Issue Review

RikerDonegal
   January 5, 2015
A monster appears randomly and thereís a fight. And later another fight. Thatís it. Not much finesse here, in storytelling or character. Cap is ineffectual, again. He is easily bested by the monster and by the villainís henchmen, and he is a bystander for the climactic battle between them. Kirbyís execution of the character is consistently bad. Itís a succession of lame stories that donít really use the character and donít belong in the series. 3/10

You can't get more ridiculous than Arnim Zola's appearance!

  Well this is completely ridiculous.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I love Zola's look.

This story is all over the place. It's like Kirby himself keeps getting bored of his own ideas.

All this has been horribly contrived, all the way down to the mini flame thrower cuff links Cap got from Fury. All way too convenient for me to rate anything other than 2 stars.... Almost 1...

First appearance pulls this issue up to a two... but damn this is bad... very bad. Can't be that many Kirby-issues back

The Swine got a 3 issue story arc. That's the most dressing thing you'll read today.

And his arc didn't even get a satisfying conclusion. I expected a final showdown between Swine and Cap, or at least a failed attempt to break Cap with torture. But nope, he gets anticlimactically killed off in a single panel by the random monster from the beginning of the issue.

Enjoyed the letter telling Jack that he needs to brush up on Marvel Universe. Then goes on for 5 paragraphs. There have been some very negative letter about Kirby's run lately, but that one made me laugh.
