I would love to have the herb Quicksilver got.

Wow. I thought the future was supposed to be more culturally ADVANCED.

The future may be more savage, or not! What a month, have you seen the add?

I really enjoyed this issue. Always liked the concept of the future essentially swinging back to the dark ages (err, in stories, definitely don't want that to happen in real life).

Nice reversal with Kang going form viallain to hero. But now we have Stan's romantic melodrama for a villain too. ARGGH!

  Azuran Says:

This was a great mini arc. Quicksilver was so boss right at the end.

After the ruff start to this team, we finally get some decent story telling.....

Something you'd never hear Quicksilver say after (approx) 1968:

"Sure! It's just that little ol' fleet-footed fun boy -- me!"

Remember, kids...if you like a girl all you have to do is invade her kingdom, lock her in jail, force her to marry you, have your army mutiny over sparing her life, and then fight against said mutineers to help her out of jam that is totally your fault to begin with.

Love...Stan Lee style!!

Not too bad...this was kind of entertaining.
I like the team up, and the ending was somewhat unexpected....I gotta admit, I didn't see that coming. But...can't Kang just go back in time to before that happened..?

  TheAmazingGatorMan Says:

The Avengers teaming up with Kang in the name if love... Well how about that? 4 stars for the story and Kangy getting some love... Or not ;-)

4 stars for more Kang & Ravonna part II...

Cover Me - I like it that the only bad guys firing their guns are the ones in front of Cap's shield!

Pep - @Duhhaag: I think those secret herbs were really just speed pills! Just imagine giving them to a speed demon!!!

Spray On Tan - Funny, Baltag started out white for two panels, and for the rest of the issue brown...

Memories - Nice of Stan to throw in DOOM references in this issue. Especially since a certain mystery villain in green appears on the last panel...

'Nuff Said - "I came as your conqueror! Now I wish to battle--as your liberator!"-Kang

Kang continues to be a messy, boring paradox.

Thank god I will be free of him for another 100 issues.

  MattzLadd Says:

Also didn't Hawkeye make that EXACT Doctor Doom joke when the Swordsman joined the Avengers?
It's kinda weird to hear him say it again...

  phogbear Says:

If each of Kangs fingers contain enough power to defeat a regiment then why did he need the Avebgers help. Especially since he could destroy all of his equipment with his heartbeat?

I'm a bit dissapointed - despite the cover there is almost no scenes of fight in this issue.

  CosmicCostello Says:

Were there actual pictures under all those word balloons? This issue was so overwritten it is hard to tell. Did Roy Thomas script this as a test or something?

This whole Kang story, a character I love, was WAY padded out. Had this tale been one issue it would have been fantastic. As is, there's a LOT of extraneous verbiage with characters saying the same things over and over. Proof positive that things aren't progressing in the plot fast enough.

  GroovyGolem Says:

I thought this was a great homage to those classic Tarzan and John Carter stories from Edgar Rice Burroughs. This played out like so many of those tales, especially with the love melodrama between Kang and the Princess, as well as the heroes joining forces with the bad guy for the big battle at the end.

I also like the comment about Hawkeye being just a primitive with a bow. Yes, a bow and a never-ending supply of magic arrows!

Really good in my opinion. Plenty of action, and having to work with Kang made for a fun twist.

Just a few things bugged me... The term "modern history" being applied to a battle happening in the far distant future; the old man using "herbs" to cure Quicksilver like some medieval apothecary rather than some futuristic "heal-o ray" or "recuperate-o beam"; Kang's tights. On the upside, we can all be safe in the knowledge that centuries from now, people around the galaxy will still be using the Shakespearean abbreviation 'Twas.

  RobinHoodMtl Says:

  • That's my line "Ravonna! My soul rejoices that I have found you!" (Kang the Conquered)

  • Well, it did not take long after Cap's return for Hawkeye to resume his bitching habits! Right now, the only thing I like about this guy is the costume!

  • As others have noted, the excessive dialogs are killing the storyline. Top panel on page 4 is ridiculous, and it is just an example!

  • Like in the previous episode, Cap's leadership truly shines here.

  • I enjoyed this unexpected twist when the tides changed and Kang had to humbly ask for the Avengers' help. The ending is a bit too much in terms of melodrama, but it is still a solid and very entertaining story. If not for the overwhelming dialogs, it would have been 5 stars so 4 it is!
