Issue Review

This is a difficult one to review because itís not a story. Itís an essay! And a self-indulgent essay at that. How does one review such a thing?

Reviewing a story is easy. You can generally gauge what the writer was trying to achieve and write a few words based on how close they came to that goal. Did I care about the characters? Did the mystery mystify me? Was the big twist an actual surprise? Or was it a tired old cliche I could see coming a mile away? That kind of thing.... (continued)

Gerber's right: It's still better than reprint.

I don't know what this is, but I'm marking it as read and moving on.

-Experimental, yes. Noble, not so much.

I scan-read this. And while I applaud Gerber's decision to do something other than a reprint, which sucks completely... This still sucks.

I gave it some thought and changed my rating from 2 to 1 star.
Is it better than a reprint? Might it be even worse? Depends on how you look at it.

1 star. Didn't even try to read this, just looked at the pictures.

I found highly amusing. Much better than a reprint

I'm gonna follow Gerber's advice and forget this issue ever happened...

I've got an extra copy of this issue that I'm going to give away. I just need to come up with a clever way to do it.

Self-indulgent narcissism, thy name is Steve Gerber.

Does this need to be on the reading list?

It was alright but still rating it as 1 star. Surprised people paid real money for this.

Gerber is responsible for more 1 star issues in my reading than any other writer. And it's garbage like this. I get what he's been trying to do with nearly everything he writes, but I hate it, it's bad, and I know he won't stop.

I can not believe Marvel even sold this back then. Plus I really think there should be a 0 stars option

Gerber is one of the best writers Marvel has ever had, and experiments like this cement that. The people are a bunch of troglodytes.

It there a more divisive writer or comic in the order?

If I had bought this as a kid it would have pissed off. They had to get a bunch of angry letters from kids for this issue. As an adult, I'm not even sure what to think about it. A day later and I think I liked it. It was an interesting experiment.
