While it is a little over dramatic...this might be the most character development I have seen so far with Johnny.

His falling in love was really forced (He sees crystal once and decides she is the love of his life??), but everything after that is handled well.

Black Bolt's power was still in flux at this point. I don't remember exactly when they nailed down the specifics, but it is a couple of years yet.

I have always felt Johnny's obsession with Crystal was a bit forced. Nice to see some character development though.

Easily one of the best issues of FF yet!

Johnny just got brushed off by Dorrie as though she didn't even care about him. So when he went out to clear his head he was entranced by Crystal as though she was straight out of a dream. His curiosity over her, combined with his frustration with Dorrie, makes it pretty believable that he would rebound pretty strongly toward Crystal. He's also a teenager, after all!

I love how much character development, intriguing plot, new revelations, and classic action they managed to pack in! And I love the fact that Black Bolt is silent. It just seems so right for him.

The Seeker? (shoulda been the stoner!) Inhumans origin_Dragon Man loose again. Questionable continuity 1) Inhumans are trying to hide, so why is Gorgon knocking down city blocks? 2)If DragonMan is an android, how the heck did RR tranquilize him!?!? Look, this artwork on FF is absolutely...well...FANTASTIC!(5)

Great artwork, great story, great development and great Inhumans! 5 stars. I usually get annoyed with the love triangles Stan writes, but Crystal is somewhat different. I wonder if the confusion between the Inhumans and FF will get resolved.

4 stars for more Inhuman Insanity!!!

Cover Me - I think the Thing and Karnak are having a staring contest!

Black Bolt - Such a cool character with a sweet costume. Imagine, he has black in his name and is not an African American!

They Call Me The Seeker - He looks like a mutated Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Member!

They Make Great Pets - The Dragon Man & Lockjaw make everything better!!!

I really like this one. Black Bolt and Lockjaw are very good and all of the Inhumans are interresting. Dragon Man just seems weird....more like a gargoyle with no man characteristics at all. He's an android but there is no explanation of who created him or for what purpose.

I have one question... Why did they go to the trouble of hiding Triton's face on pages 3 and 4 only to reveal it later on page 15 and 16 with a nice close-up on the very last page? It can't be an accident, especially when you consider the extreme poses they used to hide it earlier in the story.

I've notice Kirby does this from time to time. I figured it was a time-saving measure, but it does have me puzzled.

I like how the Seeker casually lights up after he's told his tale at the end!

Overall, I really enjoyed this story, but the details in the writing still leave a LOT to be desired. From last ish, how did Johnny know they call themselves Inhumans? In this ish, same for Reed. How does Sue know who Triton is? I understand Stan is using his characters to provide exposition, but he is using the wrong characters. Why does Medusa suddenly care so much about protecting the FF, when she spent the past year trying to destroy them?

Another topping of Awesomesauce... But the replacement of the grating internal bickering with lots of self-reflection and self-doubt doesn't necessarily improve the story for me.

My own opinions on some of your queries:

- Many think Johnny fell for Crystal too suddenly. Could it be that Crystal's power (which has yet to be revealed) is the power to be irresistible? Though the explanation Safis gives is a lot more believable...

- @MrRsBB: androids are still part biological, aren't they? That's what differs them from robots. So they could theoretically be affected by tranquilizers. As for Gorgon, I figure he never figured the FF would catch up with him. The majority of the destruction was only after he was confronted.

- Durango55, Beaustaff: Medusa was fleeing their homeland, Gorgon "caught" her, so the implication is she didn't know her "family" had left her homeland to find her. Whilst on the run, the Frightful Four rescued her, so being alone she naturally befriended her rescuers and joined them. It's just a theory.

- GroovyGolem: I think the later pages ARE the reveal. We aren't meant to know he doesn't look human, is covered in scales, and needs water to breathe until the reveal surprises us.

'Fraid I don't have any answers to @Johnny71181's queries. I was actually thinking the same things about Johnny and Reed knowing they're called Inhumans, and Medusa being nice to the FF.

  • That's my line – "If only he'd talk... if he's say somethin'! I almost forgot what we're fightin' about!" (Thing) – Yeah, but for us, readers, it's a relief. Don't we all love strong, silent types?

  • Oh, I just love Black Bolt. And he's probably got one of the coolest costumes in Marvel Universe. Kirby also used lots of finesse designing Triton, especially the facial features. Though the vestigial fins on the head feel a bit useless, they fit well with the overall concept. Karnak, on the other hand...

  • Aww! That pooch looks so cute on page 11, with the little floppy ears! Although I would not want to be the one picking up the poop on the sidewalk!

  • I know love at first sight is possible, but with Johnny and Crystal, despite Safis's very plausible explanation, it feels contrived!

  • Dragon Man must truly be growing on me. I can't help but feel sorry for the poor bastard! So far, he's been used, beaten, captured, tied up, chased, shot at, and yet, there was still some place for trust and compassion for a while!

  • Another great issue. I really love reading about the Inhumans, whom I know almost nothing of. Quite an intriguing and compelling race! This series really takes on a great trend! 5 stars!

  >Why did they go to the trouble of hiding Triton's face on pages 3 and 4 only to reveal it later on page 15 and 16 with a nice close-up on the very last page?

I was asking myself the same question. I came to the conclusion that Kirby still had not figured out any visual concept for Triton in last issue and waited until he was truly satisfied with his design to give us a proper character to look at. Hiding his face in the beginning of this issue is probably meant to keep some continuity with last issue. It's only an hypothesis, of course, but I'm very happy with Triton's design. He's one of the best looking characters in the Order so far, imho.

  >...androids are still part biological, aren't they?

I may be mistaken, but I think that androids ARE robots, but they are made to look and act like humans. (e.g. Fury's LMDs, Vision, etc.) Not to be confused with humanoids, which are a generic term for anything that looks relatively like humans, whether they are organic or not (e.g. the Leader's humanoids, most alien races like the Skrulls, etc.). So by definition, androids can also be included in the humanoid category, but it is common use to consider androids as mechanical and humanoids as organic.

Your response made me turn to Wikipedia... Seems we're both right, as androids are predominantly a construct of science-fiction, and various authors have treated them in both ways. In the end, neither of our opinions matter, as we neglect to recall that most of Marvel's contemporary writers had some very bizarre notions of scientific principles (I can't believe I'm currently into the '70s and I still occasionally bump into spaceships and weapons powered by U-shaped magnets!)
