I wonder why Cap didn't bring the other Avengers to help him out on this..?
And why didn't Red Skull just unleash The Sleepers 20 years earlier during the war..?

Just 2 stars the awakening of the 2nd Sleeper!

Take Back - Ok, I like the Manta Ray Robot better...

?Question? - Why did the 3rd Agent shoot the pawnbroker? It wasn't like he was trying to stop him or anything....and why use gas???

'Nuff Said - "It seems to be a large knob of some sort!"-Dirty Digger

3 stars for a somewhat better story and the first appearance of Voltron [sarcasm]

I don't know why, but I loved and felt the tension when Cap is slipping on Page 6.

This plotline is so bad, but I'm enjoying it anyways

  CosmicCostello Says:

I like the characterization of the two Nazi agents and how current Germans recognize their madness.

And I'm still loving Tuska's art, but I see about zero Kirby here. I think Stan is shading the truth in that credits box. This issue does not look layed out by Kirby at all.

  CosmicCostello Says:
  2014-11-01 05:51:26
He shot the pawnbroker because he's a Nazi and they're all trigger happy. Remember we learned that two issues ago in Greymoor Castle! And I don't think Tuska intended that to be gas. That's Stan softening a murder his artist drew as he was wont to do. Witness the Red Skull's origin, for example.

Power Rangers are starting to look downright reasonable in comparison.

I agree with CosmicCostello regarding the gas/bullet. I'm actually surprised by these Cap stories and the Nick Fury stories. Lots of people dying, left and right. Where's the Comics Code when you need it??

Some of the panels were particularly cool, such as Pg4/P5, Pg7/P1, and Pg8/P1. I also liked the whole sequence with Cap clinging to the edge of the cliff.

Otherwise, this one was pretty much just filler until the next chapter.

  Vancelot Says:

I think the thing that hurts these Cap stories is that they just moved out of the 40s WWII Nazi stuff, and came back to the present....to tell a Nazi story....and a robot one at that.

  • That's my line "She is surely mad! But she pays us well...!" (gold digger) Too bad y'all won't be there to spend it all!

  • The second Sleeper looks much better than the first. Actually, I thought they would all look alike. I find it interesting that they are merely parts of a larger device.

  • Cap almost falling down the cliff brought nothing significant to the plot. Of course everyone knew he would survive such a pointless death. But this is the stuff movie makers use to create additional suspense and it worked very well in this story. I liked that idea very much!

  • Tuska is really growing on me. He's really good at giving the proper dynamic and tension as shown in the cliff scene. And up until now, he's one of the best at drawing an anatomically balanced muscular Captain America. For now, only Orlando and Wood would have been able to match that talent but they have never worked on this hero. Kirby's Cap was good in actions scenes, but the anatomy was far from perfect. We will keep Ditko out of this kind of comparison where he'd be totally outclassed.

  • This story had nothing out of the ordinary. But I did not find any major flaws and the art was very nice so 3 stars.

As to why not release them earlier...
Answer: reaction time of the world defensive force
Explanation: Red Skull surely assumed that the world would be in peace 20 years later and that no one would see such a menace coming (Also for the fact that nazism would be dead and forbidden) and that the military force would be to unprepared and slow to react.

I think: clever move...

Sure Pawnbroker, you know that the device has to be for something evil...so you give it to the most evil person you know who tells you it is for reviving an old evil ...safest way to go pawnbroker -.-

I love how somehow things don't seem what they should be with all the Nazis getting killed... nice plotdevice...
