Issue Review

RikerDonegal

This feels like a by-the-numbers first issue. It tells us all we need to know about the hero, and gives him a sidekick and status quo. While JOH is still as likeable and interesting as ever, the new character and the set-up are bland. As is the villain that Jack must face. It's fine. Enjoyable. But it doesn't make one anxious to see this continue as a series. 6/10

I definitely like Jack of Heart. I am very intrigued to see what kind of role he will have in the Marvel Universe...

I like Jack, but I hated the dialogue here. I would have broken something if I read "Jackie" one more time.

Extra star for Jack blowing up the azaleas and making it personal...

If you read the Iron Man letters column, you'll see that Jack of Hearts was pretty popular. When Jack flew off in Iron Man 113, it was for this story. The plan was for him to return to Iron Man and have a more prominent role in the title. With a solo series in the future.

Then Mantlo left and Michelinie came on board and didn't use Jack. Michelinie gave of us on of the great runs on Iron Man and Jack got lost in the shuffle.
