A catapult of flame? A flaming saw? Flame lasso? Was ol' Stan reading Green Lantern? |

Better than his last solo adventure, but I still can't accept the catapult and the saw. That's just too much.
Also, I love the last panel in Johnny's story: "That's the trouble with gals -- no sensahumor!!" Don't think they'd get away with that one nowadays! |

Powers, powers, powers! How many crazy powers would the Torch achieve with his flame all along strange tales?? And wich will remain there, never (thankfully) to be remembered??
Plotholes: if Torch can do a Bobby Torch, saws, lassos 'nd so on, why did'nt he put the pics on fire the first time they met? And now why didn't he control the bomb sort of telepatically, so it wouldn't ignite on fire?? |

This issue just reminds me of how useless Sue has been throughout almost all of her appearances. She seems to spend the majority of her time standing around or being the damsel in distress. Overall this issue wasn't bad, except for them continuing to add more powers to Human Torches already ridiculous arsenal of abilities. |

At this point, I'm getting rather sick of the Human Torch adding several obscure new powers to his repertoire with every issue. I mean, really: a saw-shaped flame that actually operates as a saw? |

And besides the whose human torch powers problem mentioned above... the prison escape was not bad but not good either. How stupid would you have to be to let someone like that guy work with chemicals and stuff? And a substance that can go through anything? The superheroes need to work on stuff like that, it would certainly help in most situations...
And, reed and the thing seem really unconcerned about the fact that the torch went off to battle the wizard, despite the fact that they all know the wizard will try to kill him. Is it just me or is that silly?
I did not like this one at all. |

This is quite an improvement over The Wizard's first appearance. For one, he actually seems kind of clever, but in addition to that, the plot is less nonsensical and the art is more distinctive. I give this 3 stars. |

On second thought, I'm removing a star for the fact that Sue is burdensome to Johnny throughout the issue. |

In the Torch's last solo 'ish, the one where he faced off against Past Pot Pete, he had to flame off something like three times because he used up all his flame. In this issue, he did all sorts of crazy flame stunts, but didn't have to flame off until the end... a bit inconsistent. I do enjoy the Wizard though. I can see now how he became a major player down the line. |

If that's how Sue helps, I wouldn't want her help either. |
