very good to see all this character development, specially Betty, and Stan is doing it right putting the Secret Empire on both yarns.

I Can't stop thinking about how irresposible the U.S. army is in this universe. I mean, who gives this much power to a man who's totally mad about one single selfish project? And what does the president have to say about it? HE KNOWS THE HULK IS BRUCE BANNER!

Apparently, the last few pages of this issue don't show up when reading it online. Has anyone else had this problem?

Nice touch- having a mini crossover inside the title. But now we get Namor's crack at the amnesia plot.

Superhero amnesia is like a supervillians best friend.......

So what are we taking a page out of King Kong now for Betty and the Hulk??

General Thunderbolt Ross also appears in this issue!

In this issue I learned that Sub-Mariner's one weakness is traumatic head injuries...

Three things about the Secret Empire:
a) one of the first organizations to master the "show up in multiple storylines at once" technique, invaluable for later crossovers
b) comprised of men who like to wear red burqas even in the privacy of their own homes: more modest than the most modest hijabi!
c) don't really get much done other than squabbling and killing each other!

Namor leaves the water once again and once again is immediately brought under the mental thrall of a random supervillain. Oh, Namor. Hopefully you won't have to rob more banks while hydrating your skin with a super soaker.
The Hulk retains basic caveman camping skills while hiding out in his favorite crash-pad, a cave... but this time with Betty Ross in tow, as a scene unfolds which will be recapitulated 42 years later in a film by Liv Tyler and a rippling green pile of digital animation.
The missing last page from the online version is actually pretty important, plot-wise: Betty decides that Bruce IS the Hulk, and even Thunderbolt Ross says he's starting to understand. (I'm gonna guess he later stops starting.)

Reading these 60's comics has made me realize just how bad the amnesia problem used to be. We younger generations should count ourselves lucky to live in a time when modern medicine and vaccines have this problem under control.

Namor story was really boring, nothing but fighting...ugh.
Everett draws a nice Betty, he's got talent.
Hmmm...is General Ross having a change of Hulk about the Hulk? And what's up with this #9 Secret Empire guy?

  TheAmazingGatorMan Says:

Loving this mag now. This is the year of secret identities being revealed. First Hulk to the Senator then to Talbot and Betty... Then Thor to Jane... Possibly Iron Man to the world and high pockets to the Avengers... and now Thunderbolt knows. Who's next, Spider-Man to Gwen Stacey?

4 stars.

I love how this Secret Empire stuff is connecting a few mags, Captain America, Namor, Hulk and Nick Fury. I believe there's a big revelation regarding Number 9...

1 star for Warlord Krang's Swiss Army Knife of Warships!

Hoods - At least you can tell who Number One is. That should make it easier for Number Nine later on! Also, it's a good thing he didn't have to use the Lobotomizer; because it sounds like it does more than just mind control!!

'Nuff Said - "Namor is--retribution, most awesome!"-Avenging Son

2 stars for the Secret Empire's corporate retreat!!

Cover Me - I think Gen. Ross is enjoying the ride!

Drizzle - @marvelcomicslover: I agree about Betty, especially when she is all....wet...

Revolution No. 9 - So, I guess that is how you do a "Hostile Takeover"?

'Nuff Said - "I'm not nobody...I'm the Boomerang!"-Boomerang

on page 8's second panel, somebody screwed up Namor good: his body is totally deformed...
Poor Subby, so prompt to memory loss and submission to mad men!

  GroovyGolem Says:

This was a great issue for the Avenging Son of Atlantis... At least until the very end. A nice display of Namor's raw fury and sheer power in one relentless attack. Krang lucked out at the last minute!

There's something I wanted to say about the whole amnesia thing, but I can't remember what it is.

That's probably a good thing. 2 stars for the ending.

  Urgat Says:

As soon as Krang mentioned the weakness of Namor to Headstroke-induced Amnesia, I know this Issue would end with Namor not knowing who he really is...too foreseeable...and for that...only 2*

  • That's my line – "Who am I? And... who are you?" (The Avenging Son)Locust75, damn you, you wrote my first idea, and exactly the way I intended to write it! ;-) In this last panel, Namor looks as if he's breaking the fourth wall and asking us who we are!

  • As much as I love Kirby, it's the second issue in a row that he does and I really hope Colan will be back in this series. Kirby is good when it comes to draw Atlantis, but I never liked his Sub-Mariner, even if this time, I have to admit he's getting better.

  • Namor is pretty badass in this whole scene where he tears Krang's ship to pieces.

  • I did not like it when Krang brought up the fact that Namor lost his memory in the past and a few pages later, our hero got struck with amnesia again. Stan often uses this method and it really ruins the punch. Lost a star right there.

  • It's interesting that the Secret Empire would also appear in this series. I like it, but let's just hope they don't extend the connection to all the other super-heroes at the same time.

  • It would appear that only Number One is important enough to be identified with a number on his hood.

  • I was expecting some resolve with Krang vs. Namor storyline so I'm disappointed that the creators deprived me of it and are stretching the plot by yet another detour. Also, I hated the ending where Number One says he's Namor's only friend. We've seen this too often. Even it the story is otherwise solid with a great fight scene, I cannot give more than 3 stars.
