Strangely enough, good ol' Volstagg is starting to grow on me.

just because replicus's master died doesn't mean he will so why did he shut down, and it was an awful long minute without his hammer for thor

Just a bit of filler before the next epic.

Thor can be great...... this was not so much........

Can't think of an exciting cover? Just put panels from the inside on it! Genius. Underwhelming issue, but I did like the gangster's redemption.

Volstagg rocks! This issue does not. Basically anything that has alien invasion as the villain's plot gets an automatic 1 star deduction until the 60s are overwith. I'm very over this recycled plot.

This issue wasn't get, it was just a filler issue. But it was much better than most filler issues, actually giving some depth to the villains. Stan Lee seems to put more effort into some titles than others. This issue is miles better than anything we've gotten from Daredevil, and this issue wasn't even that great.

  gloomyharvester Says:

And in a surprise move, Marvel brings together their four great crossover arcs of the era, the Android Duplicate Arc, the Unstoppable Robot Arc, the Sonic Weapons Arc, and the Alien Invasion Arc, together for one staggering epic featuring an android replica-building, sonic stun weapon-wielding, earth-invading alien in control of an unstoppable robot. Genius. Pure genius. The Galactus trilogy may get all the press, but this is truly the quintessential Silver Age issue.

Throw in a one-off gangster redemption tale with a sick Irish mother an' it's sure there won't be a dry eye in the house.

I'm shocked at how bad this issue was. What a weak way to end the story.

Did they just mix the Forty Thieves with Robin Hood in a mystical fantasy setting?

That's worth 1 star on it's own.

Just 2 stars for what has already been replicated above!

Out Of The Closet - I wonder what other Replicas, Chuda kept in his storage chamber??

House Call - I wonder if Granny Gardenia's condition is restless puffy hair syndrome?

Code Blue - Glad to see New York's finest bringing out the heavy armor!

Team Volstagg - I with Volstagg...always follow the babe!

Giddy Up - Awesome cliffhanger page of the 40 Horsemen of Satan!! Also, Alibar new threads are sweet!

'Nuff Said - "The leather thong which I do grasp begins to tingle!"-Kinky Thor

I'm glad you quoted that line. I was thinking as read this issue that it's a good thing Stan stuck with Spidey's Spider Sense instead of Thor's tingling thong.

After they've spent time building up Thor's powers, he seemed pretty weak in this issue. Very disappointing indeed.

And I hated Granny Gardenia. There. I said it.

I was beginning to become irked that a Chinese scientist could create a robot that could go toe-to-toe with Thor. Glad he turned out to be alien. But there was a lot I didn't like. The army of replicants: What of them?; The whole granny thing: Whilst I appreciated that Slugger did something good with his life before he died, did it warrant such a late 50s / early 60s style writing (The stand alone stories with the moral or twist laid out in the final panels)?; Chude calling Slugger chauvinistic: Where did that come from?; Kirby's square faces; Recoilless rifles that look like Kirby bazookas (OK, so they ARE Kirby bazookas, but why call them Recoilless Rifles?); The bizarre dialogue between Granny, Dr. Don and the two hoods...
