next to nothing happens in second story

  Shark Says:

Agreed, the second story is a very clever way to save half a mag with filler. Did Umar really have to learn ALL THAT from Strange?

  Webslinger Says:

The second story is a filler, but not bad. Weren't some SHIELD agents at the 'party' in Karnapolis on the end of last issue??

Nice to see Steranko's inks here. He will improve a lot in a short amount of time.

Dr. Strange story is nothing but a recap of the Dormammu arc. (for those who came in late, I guess.)

So I'm more involved in the Strange side of things at this point, and this story was a waste of time...... the recap disguised as a story is getting old..... every title uses is sonstantly..... you would think they assume everyone picking up a copy is a 'new' reader......

The Fury story was good, lots of twists. How unfortunate though, that the Strange story was essentially a recap of the past dozen issues or so. I suppose it helps for getting people up to speed, but for someone who read and remembers, it's just a waste of time.

Yes! I've finally arrived at Steranko Nick Fury!

So, Doctor Strange is who to blame for inflation. Doesn't he realize that you can't just print money!!

  gloomyharvester Says:

Very nice of Hydra to remove Nick Fury's shirt for him. Saves him the time of having to rip it off later. Either way, it's 60's Fury, so you know that shirt is coming off.

Page 6, panel 3 - Look at that globe. Was that completely drawn, or did they have some sneaky 1960's method for photoshopping it into the panel?

First of all...finally we get to Jim Steranko! Can't wait for him to go bonkers in later issues.

Second, I think this ranks as the worst Doctor Strange "story" so far in the order. The entire thing is just a best of collection, but when Strange enters the story he acts like the most insufferable prick not just on Earth, but in any dimension. He can be pompous sometimes, but this was the only time that I HATED Strange. That second story was enough for me to give this one star, though I loved seeing Dum Dum get shot.

Fury us really on par with the tv show today, which is a compliment. Strange has sort if been hit or miss lately. 3 stars for a solid issue overall.

2 stars for Don Caballero and his Flying Fiesta!!!

Legit - Good call of the Supreme Hydra having been the Grand Imperator of AIM/THEM...

Pinpoint - @gloomyharvester: I agree, that map is light years ahead of Kirby's maps that make North America look like a head of an ant!

Nurse Ratched - That nurse leaving Dum Dum's room is being very snarky!

Class - I liked the Hydra themed torture rack! It's the little things that make a evil empire successful!!!

'Nuff Said - "Hail Supreme Hydra! In all the world, there is none so crafty--none so wise!"-Ass Kissing HYDRA Agent

This is the first time I've liked Eevrett's art since he started drawing in the run. Why doesn't Strange have shoes? Walking around in nothing but tights covering your feet is ridiculous. Does marvel have something against clothes? Fury is alwYs shirtless.

Shield was pretty good. Strange had nothing new to offer, mostly just a recap for those new to the series.
3 Stars

Nick Fury's story was really good. So is this Steranko's debut in the Order? Nice to see Nick ditched the head wrap bandage from the last issue.

So the one thing I can never suspend my disbelief on is how Fury can pull off all of these amazing moves when the guy has no depth perception. Every time he'd go to bash two guys' heads together, he'd reach out and miss one of them.

  Russ Says:

SHIELD story was a bit crammed, but paced nicely. Steranko's artwork was fairly nondescript here but being new to the series, he probably wasn't ready to make serious waves yet. That's ok....his best stuff will be worth the wait.

I have to admit, Hydra trapped me with Fury for a moment there. I did not see it was a set-up until Fury mentioned how "easy" it was for him to get into the plane and of the ground with it...well executed in this Issue

  1. Wait…Them is Hydra? I thought Them was AIM! Now I’m going to have to go back and catch up.
  2. Nick is still wearing th explosive shirt that he knows Hydra knows about? What an idiot!
  3. It’s incredibly stupid to have Fury fly your ultimate weapon, unless there’s some need for it, which there doesn’t seem to be here. If they were trying to attack the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, that would be another thing.

This whole Hydra plot is too contrived for me. Who is this guy? Did he just decide to use his wealth to recreate Hydra for kicks? Or is he actually connected with the original Hydra in some way? ★★

Hydra's plan seems needlessly complex, even for comics... I did like the twist, though - I was starting to think this was a complete rehash of the last time Hydra capture Fury
