This Converticar of them is terrible.
Huh, Janet was the only female aboard?
And Stan announces a new Gian-Man next ish, wow, I can't wait!

I assume it, I love to make fun "high-pockets"(?, oh my!),

Somehow I have a feeling Attuma will try and attack the surface world again. This IS a comic book, after all. Also, Pym is a real jerk.

These mediocre stories are making it really hard for me to defend this character at this point.

This is issue was pretty weird, there was some good. I got a kick out of Attuma's peoples reactions to Giant/Ant-Man's powers. And Janet running out on Hank was nice to see as well, but man did that defeat by Sub Mariner wreck Attuma's confidence. In his first appearance he had no qualms about killing, and had a hard time accepting defeat, but here he sends away the whole rest of the airplane crew and passengers, able to warn of his coming instead of just killing them like his first appearances characterization. And then he caves in so easily, and I guess he forgot to bring any lethal weapons with just in case, only the paralizers. Does he become more set in his ways in the future, or does his personality change every issue he appears in?

Giant Man stories at this point are mediocre at best. As usual Jan is the standout in the story-she deserves a series of her own instead of suffering cancellation with Hank.

  2 stars, with reservations.

I was unaware of Giant-Man & Wasp ever battling Attuma, so the concept had me intrigued, even if the story was abominable.

I also liked that Jan got fed up with Hanks' inattentiveness. It's aabout time! Still unclear what each sees in the other. Hank is a inattentive, neurotic workaholic, while Jan is (or at least appears to be) a somewhat vapid, fashio obsessed party girl.

Certain dialogue in this issue awkwardly forshadows some of Hank and Jan's future issues.

Convert-Car? Dumb name. Even dumber design.

It's like they're plotting the Ginat-Man/Wasp issues at the last minute. No real logic to the plots, no real lasting character development.

At least the writing was a tiny bit better, given that it wasn't entirely Stan. I think this is the first "editor" non-writing credit for him.

Correction - the first non-writing credit since the Larry Lieber writing very early in the Order. This is only the third he's missed.

OK, before I start this, I gotta admit...I am kinda looking forward to Giant-Man fighting Attuma.
Well...that was disappointing.
How did these Hank Pym comics last so long...?!?
WHEN WILL IT END..?!?

1 star for more Attuma on Rye!!!

Cover Me - I do like Giant Man holding Attuma in his hand.

Control Freak - I think Hank has plenty of more posters for Jan to go by. Like cooking & cleaning!

Fresh Breath - The Aqua-Scope sounds like a toothpaste brand!

Less Than Meets The Eye - Robotron, ugh.....more crappy 50's sci-fi!

Double Barrel - I agree with the copilot that gun is fugly....and stupid!

Bleached Bllonde - That Paralyzing Ray turned the Wasp's hair blond!

Prime Real Estate - There's a free artifical floating island at sea if anyone's interested!

'Nuff Said - "No blue-skinned refugees from a monster movie are gonna treat my gal that way!"-Giant Man

Horrible story with no action couple with horrible science (Diodes can't break on a fall like that, even in the 60's, unless Stan meant "Vacuum Tubes") makes for another 1 star rated issue of Giant Man. This comic needs to go away and have Giant Man and the Wasp only appear in the Avengers.

  1. Wow...Wasp needs to oil the W on her head every 3 days...who knew
2. This issue is just nutty bad. Bubbles, robotrons, capsule crumbs, converti-cars

Somewher Attuma has boobs, ants live in the middle of the ocean, Jan can communicate with ants if he swallow some little piece of his capsule? And giant-man can be that large and can walk? It need some explanation.

Interesting story, written by Leon Lazarus... I've become so used to Stan's stories I had forgotten about the Larry Leiber stories. Nice change of pace.

I like the trend in showing Ant Man using his growing and shrinking as an offensive weapon. He goes a little nutty in this one though... Signs of things to come, perhaps?

At least the artwork here has been improving. Carl Burgos is, of course, a legend in the industry already. But the story is just your typical Silver Age story. There just isn't anything to do with Giant-Man and the Wasp unless you want to advance their relationship. The back and forth between these two is getting tiresome. I guess it wasn't a step any writer was willing to take with them just yet, making the series cancellation inevitable.

  • That's my line "Nothing like a fifty-foot height to make a fella feel important!" (Giant-Man)

  • Henry Pym can sure make a girl comfortable after an accident!

  • I like that there is a Maintenance Musts poster for Wasp's costume inside her closet door!

  • I thought the Wasps antennae were what enables her to communicate with insects! That crumbs thing was ridiculous, even for this series' standards.

  • Ugh! What a bad story! And Burgos's awful art did not help at all. 1 star!

I didn't like the little continuity error here, remembering the very happy ending of the last Issue, Janet should know that Hank loves her by now. And not despair because of one harsh sentence against her, making her to leave Hank. Sorry but no..

  gonzo Says:

The dual cover on this was pretty nifty.
I understand they were different times, but the characterization of the Wasp is infuriating. "A girl is a girl, even in an adventuress' uniform!" This title has eclipsed Torch's Strange Tales as the biggest turd in the order, and that's quite the accomplishment.

1 star

The ants were on the island, not in the ocean. It confused me too.
