Issue Review

It's an okay story, but the characters are very unappealing.

The main thrust of this book at the moment is a partnership. Spider-Woman is only one half. And, in this story, she's apathetic and passive. Her partner does ALL the detective work. He deduces everything. AND he's a complete jerk. He orders SW around like a flunky and chews her out when she fails in her missions. Yet he's basically the hero of the series. He's certainly the proactive one in the partnership. And we dislike him. Intensely.

We want to like her, of course. But there's nothing there to like. She's not heroic or interesting enough.

In terms of action, the issue offers plenty.

And the story, too, is fine. Goofy but it's certainly got something to say. And it delivers an unusual villain.

Overall what makes this unenjoyable are the two unappealing leads. Specifically their abrasive partnership.

4/10

Scotty is a jerk. A jackass.

Not quite as bad as Odin or 60s Prof. X but he's pretty darn close. Will be so happy to see the last of him.

We all know that Scotty had to vent after Jessica caused some magazinus interruptus
