Doesn't seem like much, but I think this is the first story in the Order thus far to not end with a blurb about the next issue.

More expository dialogue from Lee, but MAN can Kirby draw...

Hmm, that fall looks like it was hundreds if not thousands of feet up. Sorry Stan, but there is no way that Cap could do anything to survive a fall from that height. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's a comic, but still. I think this has more to do with a lack of understanding then creative license. At least they aren't detonating atomic bombs off the coast of the city with reckless abandon...

Page 17, error by Stan Lee. Captain America didn't beat the Adaptoid previously, it was the Tumbler.

Since this is probably the least powerful iteration of the Avengers so far, Adaptoid isn't going to do much.

um, so what the Mimic story over in X-Men went over So well that you had to duplicate it over on the Avenger side of things.......

I'm really not digging this Adaptoid story. Also, how the hell is it able to think? Isn't it a robot?

  TheAmazingGatorMan Says:

I'm starting to not dig this story. Cap falls from stories high, and somehow makes it to the water and avoids a boat and survives. At least put some thought into these stories, guys! 3 stars, I guess.

2 stars for the Adaptoid becoming Super Duper!

Splash - Goose Pimples!? I'm glad it got changed to Goose Bumps!!!

On page 2 panel 2 Hawkeye mentions the Adaptoid's gotta be tough, because he fought the Tumbler to a standstill!!?? I hope, he was just being sarcastic!!!

No Prize - Also, on that same page, and panel the narrator box lists the wrong issue before saying it is paying attention!!!

Corrupted Data - You know, I don't recall Hawkeye ever using a electric arrow before! And, why is it 12ft tall when Goliath is stuck at 10ft? And, why is it's shield rectangular when Caps is circular? Also, I think it's just green with envy...

Creepy - The Super Adaptoid says it can turn human beings into Adaptoids...if they're willing...

Bugs - I agree with the others about the flawed Adaptoid. After getting rid of Cap he wonders what his next orders will be. Even though earlier, he was supposed to go after SHIELD when he was done with Cap!!!

'Nuff Said - "Surely you don't think that you can escape a Super Adaptoid!"-Super Adaptoid

Super Skrull, Mimic, Super Adaptoid... I'm surprised Dr. Doom hasn't hired them yet.

Cap: "It's a robot! Pym, you're a bio-chemist... What do YOU make of it?"

I didn't think that I would, but I liked this one. The villain is very cool... especially if he could keep this particular set of skills. I like the inner-conflict he is having at the end too, trying to figure out his place in the world after A.I.M. - Captain America though, is battling some major PTSD. Poor guy.

The super adaptoid have so much potential scanning heros and getting stronger each time... hope they use it well

  kungfufan Says:

They try and make the story seamless from month to month, but actually there's a lot of knowledge which seems accumulated between issues - and solely for the purpose of filling us in. Like last issue, how did Cap know about the "dead ringer" for him, and that the same guy assumed Jarvis's form? And this time, he left the room last issue when the Adaptoid was still in Captain America form, but must have re-entered the room between issues to know it's an android. But how does he know it's an AIM creation? And why do the Avengers all talk like the Tumbler is a formidable foe for defeating the Adaptoid when they (that is to say, Cap) only ever saw Tumbler get his a** handed to him by Cap, and no-one has ever seen Adaptoid in action. He could be a useless fighter for all they know!
One final niggle: how is it Hawkeye mentions Space Phantom and Cap replies? Seems to me Goliath or Wasp should have been the ones to mention or at least respond to that - or were they just cringing at the mention, thinking "Damn, Hawkeye, there's no need to bring up that embarrassing chapter of our lives"?

  kungfufan Says:
  2016-12-02 18:18:31
  Ya'll say it's a robot. Isn't it an android? Hence, self-thinking and bio-chemistry etc wouldn't be wrong.

  kungfufan Says:

Is that ergonomically accurate? If falling from a great height, a ball is the best shape to hit water to decrease the chances of injury or fatality? I'd assume a dive would be better, but then I don't know about the extra height.

Gravity, physics, and ergonomics? Sounds like a question for Hank Pym, what with him being a bio-chemist and all.

I enjoyed this issue. It was all battle, but it flowed well, and I liked cap keeping his cool and using his head to survive (we'll set aside that Stan's grasp of physics is as questionable as ever - in universe he was smart).

Granted, I subscribe to what I call the Die Hard Theory of Disbelief. That is, the more exciting/engrossing/entertaining a story is (e.g. Die Hard), the more I am able to willingly suspend disbelief in the face of the ridiculously impossible (jumping off an exploding roof with a fire hose). This story let sme do that, where as others (*cough*Human Torch Solo*cough*) do not.

This one lost a star when Cap changes direction of his fall. It should have ended with "SPLAT" and turning out that the Super Adaptoid fought a LMD Cap instead.
