Yeah. Shouldn't the villain be 'El Crushero?

If the Skull has a device that allows him to levitate and capture entire city blocks, why does he want a silly ol' atomic sub?

this was the realy bad! i didnt see any logic about anything that happend at all! the red skull had a super powerfull wepon, but wanted a sub instead? he could get cap to do anything.. so he waited to the last seconds to just get the info on the sub? he could hypnotise all the ppl on the sub, but not do the same with cap to get total control over him for ever, instead of just 24h? i didnt get anything of this at all!

  So.
Many.
Flaws.

Many terrible things about this one, but really, you get Cap to do your bidding for 24 hours and you choose to keep him "in suspense" (that is, doing nothing) for over 23 hours and 50 minutes and then you ask him a question? WTF, villain?!? Forgot your imagination somewhere?

Wow! how times change. Imagine the modern US govt. giving complete defense plans to a group that has former criminals and foreign nationals on it, not to mention that has been infiltrated by enemies several times.

These early Captain America's are really killing it for me.......

What could have been a great story arc is just a mess and a joke.
Bring back the Red Skull just to kill him again a couple of issues later.
Cap's under the control of Red Skull for a day (because Cap is a moron), so Skull makes him stand there for 23hrs 59mins then asks a question and makes him sit. Are you freakin' kidding me? A four year old could have come up with better use of that power. Of well, at least Cap will be back in Avengers now, felt weird without him.

So wait...Captain America just slipped on a sailor hat and the Red Skull totally didn't notice it was him? Stan Lee has officially lost his mind...

  scottyjrules Says:

In the plus column, Cap pretty much straight up murders (or so it would seem) the Red Skull. Nice to see a hero with some balls in the Silver Age...

  dpaone Says:
  2014-08-04 20:53:00
Let me get this right... Cap smashes his way out of a plan to land into the icy north Atlantic... isn't that what go him frozen near end of WWII? Also, WTF with the sailor cap over the costume disguise to fool red skull?

  TheAmazingGatorMan Says:
  2014-09-04 14:42:12
So wait, let me get this straight... Cap gives the coordinates to the subs location and puts the crew members' lives in jeopardy... And he's a hero for saving them and murdering the villain?

  specialque Says:
  2014-09-26 08:59:10
This might be the worst Cap story I've read so far.

  phogbear Says:

Well at least the Red Skull wasn't sent into exile.

Just 1 star for reasons mentioned above...

On the plus side, Gil Kane draws a pretty cool Red Skull.

I find it funny how the Defense Department sees fit to give complete briefings on the U.S. military posture to what is essentially a bunch of professional cosplayers.

And finally... unbreakable straps of specially treated... PLASTIC.

Who needs a sub when you have giant bubbles? Stick to your strengths, Skull.

  Russ Says:

  Talk about a sub-standard story.

There. I said it. 1 star for both story and comment. Next.

  Urgat Says:
  2017-03-06 04:01:47
there sooooooo many reasons to give this 1*...(all mentioned in the comments above)...but when I compare it to other 1* stories in the order this far I have to admit that this story was not THAT bad...

This is (again) one moment where half stars would be *pogchamp* ...

  JonahBlack Says:

I enjoyed that Gil "Sugar-Lips" Kane gave the sub crew a wider range of faces than the typical art of the time. That's about all I enjoyed...
