Mary Jane is starting to get a little annoying for my taste

Seems like the "under the weather" plot device is being used again a little too soon. Otherwise, a solid issue and I love that cover--Had I been a comic reader in '67, I would have definitely thrown down 12 cents for this one.

Spidey has a major fight coming and gets sick beforehand. I'm starting to think he might have some psychological problem that brings these 'illnesses' on..

this was ok but not as good as Kraven last issue.......

"Nothing can beat a man with wings!" How about a man with stilts? How about a man that jumps high? What if two men with wings fight? Does the world explode?

Blackie was actually a nickname people used to have. Believe it or not.

So... What happened to Toomes? He can't kick the bucket yet. I agree with the above sentiments, having a cold has already been done... Still a good story.

I really liked this one. The old Vulture getting sabotaged by Blackie, Spidey getting hisa**kicked by a common cold...just a lot of fun all around.

The beginning of Romita altering Gwen's look to make her more attractive. Almost there....

The quality of the art really stood out in this one! I loved the betrayal as the changeover to the new Vulture.

This one was loaded with that Spider-Man melodrama! The introduction of the "new" Vulture is one of those stories of contrivances that only works in comics. Still, an entertaining story.

I like Pg14/P4 where Vulture almost swoops by and knocks Spidey's block off. Gives the reader a good sense of the danger involved in fighting a man with wings.

3 stars for Spidey learning firsthand that the new Vulture is nothing to sneeze at.

Well, somebody else was going to eventually.....

Spiderman gets sick a lot... like more than normal people. It's almost like somehow spider venom had adverse affects on Peter's health, but I don't see how that could be possible.

I remember Cerebus getting a cold pretty quickly after getting rid of one. He spent two and half pages pissing in a bucket.

Romita's art keeps getting better

  1. Back to Spider-Man, after a long hiatus of reading other stuff (I got interested in Hydra, for one thing).
  2. This cover seems very familiar. I’m almost certain I’ve read this one before.
  3. I’ve gotta say, though I miss Ditko in some ways, Romita draws the classic Spider-Man for me. The splash page is perfect.
  4. Why would the snow muffle his spider-sense? Isn’t it essentially psychic? I wish we had some sort of description of how it actually works. Is it telepathy? Precognition? What?
  5. Pn. 8-8: Why is everybody a genius inventor?
  6. P. 10: I wonder how superheroing duties are rationed out? Do the Avengers and FF just not bother to get out of bed for Spidey-level threats like Vulture?
  7. P. 11: You’ve got an overdeveloped sense of duty, Pete. It’s going to get you into trouble someday.
  8. Very nice city scene on pn. 13-1. You rarely get a big-picture view like that. But how’s Spidey going to web-swing out there?
  9. Pn. 17-1: If split-second chronology isn’t that important, why do you do it all the time?

Man, it’s good to be back reading Spider-Man. Even with Ditko gone, it’s head and shoulders above most of the rest of the Order. ★★★½
