I noticed at the last issue that the comic led into Stark being in Vietnam, and thought about how little the industry reflected on it. In fact, I think often about how little my own educational history really touched any part of the history of Vietnam. The story only BRIEFLY visited the soldiers - and all are of course painted with one-dimensional backgrounds. It also led Tony and the soldiers apart before any real conflict took place. This villain - what a terrible name - half-face? Wonder who THAT is in reference to...

I find it a tad peculiar, that Tony Stark would create and distribute weapons specifically capable of defeating Iron Man.

Apparently Half-face's most important power is the ability to transport a Bavarian castle to Indochina.

Oh, good, Iron Man hasn't fought an Asian super genius before. /sarcasm

Half-face? Does he have the sidekick Scar-on-left-cheek Girl?
"Peace through strength rally"? But wasn't that the USA's reason for being in Nam? To bring peace to the region will military might?
When you call your villain Half-face, a guy that looks like he has a broken jaw is a disappointment.
That's kind of a dumb cliffhanger. My guess is that Gene couldn't think of anything menacing, so they just put it off until next month. My guess is it will be a giant robot dog.

I wonder who the next hero to reveal himself will be, it seems like more are open than closed now.

So this is where the idea for Darth Malak came from.

2 stars for the 1st app of Half-Face! I wonder if the look for Trapjaw of the Masters of the Universe came from him?

Kennel - I wonder if Half-Face got the ideal of the robot dogs from the Yashonka Beeper Dogs? Or, vice versa?

Half-Face...ugh...what a corny name. He's got a castle and I guess he's making his own version of Frankenstein's Monster. I have to make it out of the 60's...I've went forward to see all of the great comics and story arcs just waiting up ahead....If I can just get there....

For a second there, I thought Iron Man had stumbled into a deadly game of Hungry Hungry Hippos. But no, robot dogs.

From what I know, Gene Colan was a big fan of the old classic Frankenstein films. My guess is this was his way of working it into the story.

I found the character design on Half-Face pretty uninspiring. Someone didn't get the memo, obviously.

But man, this story was all over the map (no pun intended) in terms of tone. I did like the scene with Iron Man uprooting the tree, but that was about it.

And what's with Iron Man hitching a ride in a helicopter??

It's not hard to see why Half-Face chose to utilize robot dogs to go after Iron Man.....they don't leave spots on his expensive carpeting!

Other than that, this is your prototypical anti-commie propaganda story. Nothing to see here; move along.

Three stars for Iron Jaw...I mean Half Face! (really? Half Face? That was the best you could come up with?)
