One of the better stories so far. Surprised by the level of racism in the portrayal of the bad guys.

This is surprisingly good. For once, most of the story makes complete sense.

So let me get this straight: We've got a _VIETNAMESE_ guy named _WONG CHU_, who promised a reward of 10,000 _YEN_?

Asians. They're all the same.

I was surprised at how close the movie kept his origin story, though, just updating it to take place during a current war (as this was at the time).

Strange that people liked this, I personally see nothing special here, in truth it's a bad story for me.
Iron-Man, like all the Avengers, is a hero I no nothing actually, so there are no expectations, I just get going, let's se what comes next with Iron-Man!

I really didn't 'get' this issue. The transistors idea doesn't translate forward 40 years very well and it's a very different ironman to later years (when compared to the other characters who are still relatively similar). He basically ends the issue as an iron version of the thing, rather than tony stark/ironman. Was very interested to see how close this was to the story they used in the film, which goes to show it wasn't a bad idea as only small differences made a much better story.

A lot of flack will be given to this comic about the racism, but considering how prevalent this kind of Asian racism was in all forms of media during the time period it was published, it's not really that bad. I wish they'd used the tiniest bit of research to be consistent with the Asian characters though, as they use all kinds of names and terms interchangably w/o regard to actual geography and culture.

I would like to give this issue a high rating, but the racism in this story is just ridiculous. And it's also clear the direction of the character had not been figure out yet, since Stark claims he's trapped in his full Iron Man suit, which we know that element of this story is not kept. Otherwise it was one of the best issues in the order so far.

I really like the Iron Man origin story. It's very archetypal, but enjoyably so. It's a pity the depiction of Asian characters is so awful, however.

Out goes the Hulk (for awhile) and in comes Iron Man and his constant yammering about the awesome powers of his transistors!

Not a bad origin story. Definitely would have been better off, had they curbed the racism and been more vague with what powers the Iron Man suit.

A really good origin story, despite the racism. I only know a little bit about Iron Man, so it'll be fun seeing how his character evolves in the upcoming stories.

I quite enjoy this origin story. Despite the racism, I feel that there is a certain power that it possesses.

I can't believe it took this long in the order for someone to realize that magnets don't attract people... only metal!
