The infamous "Plan K-11" rears its head here. And "The Fantastic Hallucination Cube?" I think a certain author was heavily partaking in some "60s lifestyle" at the time, eh?

The Satan Claw a.k.a. the beta version of the Infinity Gauntlet....

The ridiculousness of Plan K-11 is IMMEDIATELY made up for one page later with Steranko's brilliant Hallucination Cube full-page spread.

In spite of the horrible design of Zom, this was actually a pretty good Doctor Strange story.

I can imagine William Shatner playing Nick Fury if a movie of this story was made. It's so silly it's good!

This is another 5 star for me. The Hallucination Cube and the Satan Claw were worth a star each.

Somewhere along the line, Steranko has transformed Fury from the husky commando sargeant to a lithe sculptured fighting machine.

Strange continues to pick up the pack. His final panels always make the next issue a must.

The introduction of the Living Tribunal makes this a must read.......

What's with unleashing a worse monster to deal with the current monster? How is that helping? If you can't beat the current one, how can you defeat a stronger one?

Jim Steranko. Wow. What is there to say - his stuff is breathtaking, like turning the page and seeing that hallucination cube. Some artists had started putting up some walls on the foundation that Jack Kirby had laid down, Steranko came along and built a house on it, advancing things by leaps and bounds. And he did this in a very short run. He was so far ahead of his time that some of the stuff he drew you wouldn't see anything like it again in a major mainstream comic until 80's, such as his little surrealist masterpiece in the Fury part of Strange Tales 168. If you are not familiar, do yourself a favor and make sure you check it out, especially if you are only reading the essentials, as that issue currently is not tagged as one.

Epic battle between Strucker and Fury plus the first appearance of the Tribunal makes this a 4 star issue. I need to find my Marvel trading cards from back in the early 90s. I remember the Tribunal from those cards.

I actually liked the Shield story in this issue, and can't wait to see how it plays out. This Doctor Strange story was a lot better than I expected as well.

2 stars for Fury Gump ruining Green Hydra's Party!!!

Cover Me - Great cover! I always love to see Hydra's tentacles covering the Earth!

Continuity - Nice touch of Steranko to use past ideas, items, and people from past issues!

Splash - Like others have already said about it....FAR OUT!!!

Devil's Due - It's a good thing that Hydra didn't go with the Satan's Codpiece!!!

'Nuff Said - "So ya finally decided to come outta your rat's nest an meet me eye patch to monocle!"-Fury

OK Steranko's getting the love and rightly so, but if I could just draw your attention to p3 of the Doc Strange story (particularly panel 4), Severin is giving him a real run for his money.

Am really enjoying this little stretch of ST.

You guys are all going nuts about the Living Tribunal... Why?!? I know virtually nothing about Nick Fury and SHIELD. These stories are all new to me. But I'm loving them!

LOL never mind. I didn't read the Dr. Strange story yet and thought you were all referring to the HYDRA tribunal that passed the guilty verdict on Nick at the end of the last issue. D'OH!

Attack plan K-11. Such a bad attack plan that there are at the very least ten other plans with higher designations.
I do like how each of the nine Hydra agents is holding a different weapon... And none of them get to use 'em!
It's also amusing how the hallucino-bomb has no plot forwarding purpose, and is just thrown in so Steranko can go a bit wild!

A friend, who is a Brazillian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt, and I were mocking both the preponderance of heroes proclaiming Judo skills, and also Jack Kirby's complete lack of understanding of how Judo throws work. Looking at the page where Fury deals with 'plan K-11', I'm fairly sure Steranko at minimum glanced through a Judo book, because several of those throws look decent.

Over the years I've seen a lot of Jim Steranko's paperback book and comic covers. This run through the Order is my first time seeing the interiors. Gob-bloody-smacked! WOW! The splash page at the beginning was great but the Hallucination Cube was...I don't know...transcendent. The story manages to keep up with the art (as it should in a good comic book) but...WOW!
