Ahhhh, the old "I'll pretend to help but really screw you over" trick. Why do villains keep falling for it exactly?

hercules talks way too much in this ish

I'm really liking Hercules, he brings a bit of character to what is otherwise a rather bland and pedestrian series. I also like that they had the restraint to make the Black Widow plot secondary and spread it out over so many issues, but I get the sinking feeling that I'll find the finale underwhelming.

The FF offered to throw in on taking down Diablo and Dragon Man, but Pietro refused the help because nobody rescues Avengers but Avengers. That's just stupid.

Hercules vs Dragon Man was great...... Hercules dialogue, not so much...... I think i like him better as the strong, silent type......

So many things going on at once, and it's all coherent! Great issue, and setting up the next one perfectly.

I'll overlook the stupidity of the Avengers turning down the FF's help and just say that this was a decent, fun issue.

A further development in Diablo's plan - 'I will create an entire ARMY of Dragon Men, even though one has betrayed me in the past, and anyone of these could potentially do so too!'

3 stars for Cap saving the day! By, blowing the crap out of everything!!!

Distinguished Competition - I wonder if Hawkeye was taking a jab at Green Arrow? When mentioning maybe painting all his arrows the same color...

No Prize - The speech bubble is placed wrong. It's making it sound like one of the Avengers is going to make the cave explode! (p15,p2)

Dragon Tales - If, what Diablo said is true, and his Dragon Man army is as durable as the original. Then exploding the castle shouldn't have damaged them. Imagine if a villain found out about them, and had a way to bring them to life...

'Nuff Said - "Yet, I feel strangely sorry for him! He was only Diablo's helpless tool!"-Wasp, talking about Dragon Man, or possibly Hank...

On Pg3/P3, all I can say is, thank Zeus for shadows! Show some modesty, Herc!

That's an awesome shot of Diablo on Pg4/P3. Very expressive work by John Buscema. Speaking of which, the very last panel is great too... Love the expression on Hawkeye's face.

It was nice to see the often-overlooked underground lava pools of Transylvania.

I liked Hawkeye's dig at Green Arrow on Pg7/P3.

I loved Cap's return to the team. As soon as I saw that red glove grab Diablo's hand I thought, "It's Cap!" I only wished they devoted a nice cinematic splash page to him punching out Diablo on the next page.

And poor Diablo! I'm surprised the guy has any teeth left after taking a shield throw right to the face!

And finally... Why does Dragon Man wear underpants? What possible purpose could that serve??

Well, give Avengers #42 some credit. It made me do something that six hours ago I would've never ever imagined doing.

It made me look up the word "yclept". Does that make me an ycleptomaniac?

I was sleepily boring through the issue until Capn' surprised me and showed up at the last minute just to win the fight himself and blow everything to Hell. It was awesome. I can't enjoy Avengers without Cap. Especially if I can't have Hulk and Iron Man.
