Gonna jump on the Steranko bandwagon. The art in the Fury story was "trippy" maaaaaan! I really appreciate the attention to detail.

I'm not sure how Fury is supposed to save Suwan when he's in hand to hand combat with Claw.

The sudden change in Fury's art with all the near 70's trippy drawing is superb, and the ending was quite nice. On the other hand, the robot is kinda clunky.

The Robot was just called Voltorr in the last issue...... which is it guys??? how bout you just don't do robots for a while, then we don't have to worry about spelling the name right.......

Nice turn at the end of the SHIELD comic, someone not evil actually hates Fury now...about time.

Woo's an idiot. Him getting pissed off at Fury at the end makes zero sense, even for a comic book.

OK...for some reason I couldn't seem to enjoy this Fury story arc. I pushed my reading off for weeks, just dreading it. Maybe it was the corny names for the weapons and vehicles, or Fury's corny thought bubbles. Or maybe it was the boring Strange tale, I dunno. But I finished it..and here's my recap.
Strange fighting a giant robot was stupid. I did like the ending. I kinda miss the Ancient One.
I loved the ending to the Fury story, I didn't expect that to happen...good stuff.

Both get 3 stars. Strange was doing great until that lame robot came into play...

2 stars for Suwan getting the cold shoulder from her uncle!

Comic Book Ads - I used to have a pair of rearview glasses like Jimmy Woo has. All the other neighborhood kids were sooooooo jealous!

'Nuff Said - "Silence! Does the volcano pause for the bird in flight?"-Yellow Claw

Great chapter in the Fury story arc, from the opening splash to the shocking final panel, I give this one an extra star for a cool story and really cool art. Steranko has taken Gene Colan's dynamic panel layouts and kicked them up a notch!

I loved that cold opening with the hi-tech wingsuit (again about 30 years ahead of its time) and Fury holding his cigar in flight. And of course...magnets.

Any idea how long this one takes place after the previous issue? Fury must have healed pretty quickly from those spiked fists to the ribs. I would imagine an injury like that would make tasks like holding onto a speeding aircraft as it plunges into the sea, swimming deep underwater, and climbing up a grappling hook rope pretty difficult and painful.

Maybe SHIELD has one of those Med Pods like the ones from Weyland Corp. in Prometheus. You know, the one that allows women to run, jump, and hang from ledges after a C-section.

I absolutely loved pages 6 and 7! We're finally getting some "artsy" layouts, from the upside down panel on page 6 to the whole page spiral on 7. I just hope we see more of this in other books, I'm getting a little tired of purely rectangular panels. Also, seeing Jimmy Woo blame Fury equally for Suwan's death is a good step towards a more realistic emotional response.

me neither, I was a little shocked too...but the reaction of Jimmy WOo was a little bit over the top imho

I am i little bit torn apart here...

The Story was imho a little bit over the top and too much, it seems with story arc they seem to top the last Issue everytime by use even more hightech gadgets (and technobabble over it) or even more obscure weapons and traps for fury to overcome. Also it seems there is a pattern with the endings of last and the beginning the new issue: Fury is always in great danger and Yellow Claw escapes (or is the danger) and the next Issue, Fury is up and follows YC or destroys the source of danger (or gets rescued) and fights YC. I get a bit tired of this arc

On the other hand, the art in these Issues also gets better and better with these huge beautiful splash-pages and the new panel-layouts...amazing!

so I will take the middle and give it 3* for the art alone...

Once again, Steranko pushes the artistic vocabulary about as far as he can. It's fantastic but it wasn't without criticism by his peers.

In Howe's "Marvel Comics: the Untold Story" he mentions that Neil Adams did something similar but if you tipped the page, the lines read "Hey look! A Jim Steranko effect!"

Still, the art is fantastic, way above the storyline.
