Issue Review
   March 7, 2017
Always interesting seeing the gadgets Kirby continues to come up with like on pg 1. Always enjoy the action panels in these Cap comics. Just such a classic look to them. A very frenetic pace in this one that's a lot of fun to read. Now, as for Modok, since I've been a dc reader my entire life and everything I'm encountering in these comics is new to me, I'm just hoping this isn't another generic robot or something of that ilk.

One thing very noticeable in these first gen marvel universe comics is the need for unattainable love. Daredevil and Karen Page, Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, johnny Storm chasing Crystal, Don Blake and Jane Foster ... and I really feel like it's repetitive and boring. And now add Cap to the list, although it isn't as distracting as in other books thanks to her being an equal of sorts to Cap.

Will Sharon survive her encounter with Modok?
Will Captain America get through an issue without comparing the situation to Bucky's death?

No matter how well hidden you are, I don't think you should put the name of your evil undercover organization on your giant submarine of death. A little subtlety, jeez.

Cap, I'm pretty sure that if you want to get the girl, maybe you shouldn't be calling her a little girl when she's saved you more than you've saved her.
Origin of MODOK, awesomesauce.

Good thing that aim agents don't have any of those guns that use bullets. The non-lethal paralyzer rays are much better at stopping super heroes and secret agents.

If the one girl that Cap 'truly loves' is Sharon Carter - then we know he goes off looks and not personality.

This was pretty decent, except of course the 60's dialogue. I can't wait to learn more about MODOK.

3 stars for the 1st app of MODOK!!!

King Kirby - Wow, Kirby finally drew a magnet that isn't "U" shaped!

Nerdgasm - Makes sense that AIM would want to study Cap's shield.

Cap believes in true love at first sight. He's just loving all this, it's like a date to him.

That whole sequence on Pg3 where Cap is zapped underwater only to wake up in an A.I.M. laboratory was pretty darn cool.

You'd think with A.I.M.'s rebirth they'd splurge for new uniforms instead of those old beekeeper suits.

And speaking of suits, how about those purple anti-polar coveralls? Sharon Carter sure is dedicated... Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine wouldn't be caught dead in those.

Not long ago we would have gotten walls of thought balloon text as Cap beat up on the enemy. This issue has a three panel fight that accomplishes everything you need to know with "SPUKKUK! BUH-KOW! THWOOSH! BTAM!"

Yes, and Tony Isabella in the previous issue.

The espionage theme does suit Cap. They really should've had Jim Steranko pencil this series. He could've designed a great anti-polar suit for Sharon!

(I know he does a few issues in Cap's own mag shortly)

Really exciting with the MODOK build-up, and just an entertaining ish all the way through. 4 stars
