The one thing that this issue illustrated to me is just how very different the 60's Magneto is from the current one...

To much is going on in this issue for any of it to amount to much. Also Magneto's face looks really weird here.

Another favorite of mine, Black Knight (Dane Whitman). Sort of brought down by old Magneto, being evil for evil sake, but still good.

Roy is really throwing the plot threads at us this time.
I'm looking forward to each of the stories he's started here.

My motivations are none of you business Morris, and they are as follows.
Herc looks weird without the beard. Hope it grows back fast.
I know that we've already covered the fact that magnetism does a whole lot more in the Marvel universe...but a transporter? How?!
Why would Magneto need with a device that controls magnetism?Makes as much sense as Namor stealing SCUBA gear.
The art was terrible in this issue. Everyone was off model. Heck Magneto himself had 3 or 4 different model changes in this one issue.
Entertaining story though, even if it was scattershot.

3 stars for Magneto trying to get the band back together!!!

Credit Due - I blame George Tuska inks for the bad art!

Disgruntled - No wonder Norris knocked him out! Whitman put him down two times in a just matter of minutes. No telling how much abuse he had to take over the time they worked together!!

Driving Miss Van Dyne - It still irks me, that they don't know he's the Whirlwind! They both seen his face in the past!!!

Roll Call - Man, Caps gone 5 minutes and the whole place falls apart! Hawkeye takes off in a hissy fit, Hank & Jan become jetsetters, and Herc finds out you can't go home again!!!

Picker - On p10,p2 it looks like Magneto is about get Norris's nose!!

Dynamo - @duncanm: Actually, Magneto has and will use machines to increase his powers. It will explain later that his powers fluctuate with the Earth's magnetic field!

What Night For A Knight - So who made the giant suits of armor?? Magneto, Dr. Whitman, or Pro. Garrett???

'Nuff Said - "The ability to lie is probably not merely a human trait!"-Norris

So you can fly a planet to Mount Olympus..?!?
This was a bit of a chore to get through, but I'm glad to see Magneto back again.

  In this issue:
Magneto uses a conveniently available giant wrench!
Hawkeye is smooth as usual with the ladies!
Scarlett Witch tries her hand at interior decorating!

If an issue is 1/4 flashbacks, it's probably written by Roy Thomas.

  Katryn Says:
  2016-05-25 22:18:57
I have 3 questions from this:
1) Why is there an over-sized wrench? I understand a normal one, but why the giant one?
2) Where has Toad gotten all his knowledge of castles from? Don't tell me he may actually get some sort of character development! Not holding my breath though.
3) Hasn't the Whirlwind already attacked them and given away that he was the driver? Or are Hank and Jan too dumb to figure that one out? You know, just in case they didn't recognise him regardless.

  GroovyGolem Says:

Cripes, Whirlwind better act fast if he hopes to get his revenge. Seriously, what is his plan?!? "Hmm... I'll just drive them to the bank first, then I'll get my revenge! Well, maybe after that quick little trip to the grocery store. THEN I shall have my revenge! Well, it won't hurt if I put their luggage on the plane first. THEN I will make them pay! Right after I make sure the plane gets off the ground safely... there it goes... D'OH!!"

I also wonder why Magneto keeps Toad around. I can only imagine what a barrel of monkeys it must have been, the two of them alone on that barren planetoid for all that time. You don't think...? I suppose even the Master of Magnetism has needs.

And as a follow-up to Locust75's "Picker" comment... also on Pg17/P2 it looks like Maggie's trying to pick something out of his teeth.

  Russ Says:
  2016-10-16 18:42:30
I'm starting a new career. I'm going into the European castle import business; there's more of a market for that than I ever thought possible!

Big Red Cheesecake Shot - Is it me, or does Norris resemble a certain Dr. Sivana?

When dead in comics actually means dead - It looks like a certain Prof. Garrett has fought his final battle in Tales of Suspense #74. Who'da thunkit that a Marvel character who dies, actually stays that way.

Avengers Disassembling, '60's style - Cap has quit being Cap, Hank and Jan join the jet-setting crowd, Hercules heads home for a staycation, and Pietro and Wanda rejoining their first group? Oh yeah, and Hawkeye being a hothead....oh wait, he's always been that way.

Roy put out a lot in this issue, but I don't think it's a bad thing. His output with Marvel hasn't been all that good so far, but I think he's starting to find his niche with the Avengers.

LOL Russ, I was thinking the same thing! I recently finished Iron Man #8 where Tony visits yet another castle imported "stone by stone" from Europe!

Made me think of Edith Massey's relationship with her chauffeur Heinz in "Polyester"

After reading the revelation of Thor (#159), this was a big step downwards. Nice to see Magneto returning, and both Natasha and Scarlet Witch are turning into interesting characters in their own ways. 3 stars though.

Thought the same, why is he drawn this way here, showing his face through the helmet that much, i liked it way more with the mystic shadowy face only revealing some parts at some angles

  Allencthulhu Says:

It is so nice to see Dr. Sivana was able to find work after Fawcett quit printing comics!

So, let me see if I've got this straight, the last time we saw Magnet-toad, he was being chased by the Stranger. So the Stranger caught him and thus he's back with his little buddy. Okay.
