And so it ends, a brilliant story arc dragged out until it doesn't matter anymore.

man the tides really shifted on this one....... It went from being a great story arc to a overly long story arc that killed it's own greatness by not knowing when to call it quits...... Never was a big fan of Strange, but i was about to change my mind, oh well.......

Where is this Dr Strange saga headed to? This Ferris wheel has gone round too many times.

Dang...I guess we'll find Clea another time. This wasn't too bad...Doctor Strange is definitely a bad mofo.

3 stars for the razzmatazz of Tazza!!!

Second Wind - I do like it that the Ancient One is actually doing something other than dying!

Shapes - I do like the Samandra and Amoeboid forms that Tazza took!

'Nuff Said - "Do then your worst! Tazza does not fear to die!"-Tazza

This issue was just the sand old same old. 3 stars though.

It's nice that Strange ensured each wraith's body got a mystical beating before they were returned.

Something different about Steve's art this time around, but I can't place it exactly. He did use uncredited inking assists from time to time, so maybe that's it. Or maybe his style is just evolving.

Roy the Boy did a fine job scripting. I'd never have picked out that this wasn't Stan were I not told so. And while I'm prejudiced toward loving Doc Strange drawn by Ditko, I'm giving this 4 stars cuz 2.8 is ridiculously low!

Also love how many of our comments here were echoed in the letters pages of the day. Some readers were just as astute and careful eyed as we, so when they get a no-prize for a mistake, I feel we've earned one, too. Huzzah, pip pip, and all that jazz!

Asti the All-Seeing (very popular with the boys in his high school, but despised by the gals and teachers) is awesome. Too bad we don't see him again for forever.

And one inherent problem with any magic based character is that his/her fighting style is going to be somewhat repetitive. I can forgive Doc that. And read together as one tale I agree the denoument and finish of the Dormammu tale is longer than is perfect, but only by an issue. Maybe not even that given that these were produced as monthly serials.

Dormammu keeps Asti around because he has an effervescent personality... Get it? Asti... Bubbly... Anyone?
I like how the Ancient One is essentially on an inter-dimensional booty hunt for Strange.

Umm, why did the Ancient One think the girl would be there? Did I miss something?

In that dimension they say that Tazza's heart grew three sizes that day.

  • That's my line – "What? You mindless floating mask... Need you ask me that? Hurry... Act before it is too late!" (Dormammu) – So now I'm wondering if Asti is really just a mask! Pretty interesting And yes, GroovyGolem, when I saw Asti, I got myself a drink!

  • One of the creatures whose form Tazza is transforming into looks like a giant crab. Eww!

  • Too bad, it's the last we'll ever hear from Tazza. He was an interesting foe and Ditko was particularly good at drawing his face.

  • I agree with the other readers, this arc should have ended a few issues ago. Strange could have included the girl in his negotiations with Dormammu and get it over with. Now, as much as I truly enjoyed this run, reading 15 issues in a row is beyond enough! This meant 15 months, back in the days, for Hoggoth's sake! Time for something else!

  • That being said, it was not a bad story. I wonder how long the writers are going to be able to find new tricks for Strange to perform, but for now, he's still creative in his battles. 4 stars!

Another inconsequential issue. Here's hoping Doctor Strange rises to greatness one again.

I've given this two stars because after the fights with Mordo and Dormammu, we had the Three Stooges and now Tazza the Incomparably Boring.
