the avengers is pretty stupid currently I mean there are only three members I think they really need more characters

It's obvious that Goliath regains his powers

Nice to see the original members back in action. It was a shot in the arm the sereies needed. Maybe the arrival of Black Panther and Grim Reaper will keep the quality elevated.

Comb!? Really? Wouldn't a beam from the sky be more appropriate.

This team is at such a low even the reserve members have to come out of nowhere to help this title....... Let's hope Black Panther can help......

Cripes, that's a high diving board Jan! Hope that's a deep pool.
Hulk's power is 'virtually equal' to Thor's? I do believe he just finished beating the crap out of the entire Asgardian army.
Why is Jan apparently topless on page 15? Was this part of her method of escape?
Why do they just keep calling him "Panther"? He's the Black Panther!
Was hoping Thor and Iron Man were going to stick around, but I guess not.
The bickering is going to reach whole new heights now. To the egos of Pym and Hawkeye, they're adding a king? Speaking of which, why is he leaving the land he rules and is sworn to protect, in order to fight criminals in New York?

Welcome to the Avengers, Black Panther!

  specialque Says:

"I'm Ant Man! No wait, now I'm Giant Man! No, that didn't work, I'm Goliath! Oh wait, this isn't working either. You know what, I had it right the first time. Now, I'll forever be Ant Man! Ah crap, but it would really be great if I could grow again. Hey guys, Goliath's back!"

But anyhow, great, fun issue. Loved seeing (most) of the old team back, and I'm excited to see how Black Panther fits into the dynamic. The Collector is always a fun villain, too. Just an all around good issue.

  OP Thor is OP.

And also way too easy to be put under someone else's control.

3 stars for the Collector branching out! When we first met the Collector he was in his castle using magical objects from Earth's past. Now, we get a glimpse of him being a cosmic character in a spaceship with cool alien creatures!!!

Dud Duds - No love for Goliath's new and improved costume...

Ooh La La - Wasp rockin' a bikini in her "A" shaped pool!!!

Good Condition - Of course, the Collector would keep his action figures in plastic!

Talking With Duncanm - You make it sound like Jan being topless is a bad thing! They call him Panther because of the Black Panthers during that time. It was pleasant for this issue that Hank and Hawkeye didn't fight!! Decades later in Black Panther Vol. 3 it explains why he joined the Avengers!

No Prize - How does Hawkeye know that the Robotoid uses a stun ray?

Hold Please - How long did poor Cap have to wait by the phone!??

'Nuff Said - "Grasp me tightly, my friends..."-Kinky Thor

Early Buscema is gorgeous, but with a rougher almost Joe Kubert-esque line. He could still draw anything and make it look good.

I really hate when they put size or time restrictions on Hank's powers. Also, I hate the timed hammer power thingy Thor has.
Decent story and art.

One of the first comics I bought as a boy. Loved the Buscema art work. Those images have stayed with me throughout my life

And Odin had nothing to say about his supposedly favourite son being fed obedience potion? Chalk that one up as another point in the worst parent ever tally.

Both Doug Moench and Tony Isabella are in the letters page.

  GroovyGolem Says:

It's a good thing the Marvel method is usually art before script, 'cos if it were the other way around, the splash page could have been VERY different!

"Handsome Hank Pym will do ANYTHING to regain his vanished power... Or, at least, so he thought! 'AAAARRR! Hawkeye! Turn off the Vibrotron... FAST!' "

And I'm sorry to burst your bubbles, guys, but Jan is NOT topless on Pg15. If you look close, her bikini is intact, just below the wing line.

As for the action, Thor kicked Iron Man's butt in this one! Wasn't even a contest!

  Russ Says:
  2016-10-20 12:46:16
"My transistorized power is no match for Thor" - I bet Iron Man forgot this little thought later on when he proposed to have him work for the government!

No, Jan wasn't topless on page 15. But considering the way she acts around guys, don't think the thought hasn't crossed her mind once or twice!

The Collector needs a new hobby, like maybe coin collecting. Like my father once said, if you're going to have a hobby and collect something, it might as well be money!

3 stars. Pretty good fight issue, and if Hank's powers actually hold out for awhile, this trio plus the Black Panther should make an interesting lineup. But, while WE know that was Cap vouching for his new friend, how do THEY know it was Cap? Who remembers Avengers #20?

Extra star for Buscema making Jan extra gorgeous.
