This Was The First Appearance Of The Venom Symbiote And The First Appearance Of Spidey's New Black Costume.

  Redsvetz Says:

-I'm a little surprised at the high ratings for this ish. It's just more of the same--a new suit does not a great comic make.

  Drax Says:
  2015-04-01 13:40:05
Don't care much about the new costume, but it was nice to see the heroes get a pretty unilateral win.

  squidfishious Says:

Seriously, "Amidst the chaos, there comes a costume!" is not an exciting tagline.

  metasynthie Says:

The new suit is in this comic for six panels and it's pretty uninteresting. On the other hand, Enchantress getting falling-down drunk in a haze of self-pity is also in six panels, and actually added something to the character, so bonus star.

  Vancelot Says:

I'm giving this 1 star solely for the way Shooter is f***ing the Wasp up. She just survived death and her worry is makeup. F*** you Jim Shooter.

  MrGeekBoi Says:

I hate the way Shooter writes most of these characters. But the story and plot continue to be engaging and fun. It's great to see the black costume if only for the fact that Spider-Man now has the more streamlined look with longer, thinner legs. He had been getting there in the old red and blues but now we get to what I think of as the more spider-like look for Parker.

  bill_the_cat Says:

I wonder if the original intention was for it to be the Venom Symbiote or if it was just going to be a new suit. This series seems like a strange place for any large changes for the universe. It almost feels like it is outside continuity.

  TheAmazingGatorMan Says:

I'm torn... Great issue... but I always expected more from the symbiote. I guess maybe like the 90's cartoon, but not really originating on the moon.

  Titens Says:
  2017-09-13 19:19:24
I agree with bill_the_cat on the suit nature. I even think that this is the introduction of a black suit, Venom will be born out of someone else's brain in the future.

  grayrender @ Titens (original post):

Eh, there are hints here that everything is not A-OK with the suit.

1) Spider sense goes off when it animates.

2) It ignores Peter's desire for a red and blue appearance.

It's just enough to make me believe that Shooter imagined the suit as having its own agenda even this early.

But I'm with Red on this. I gave the issue 2 stars because of how Wasp was treated. Either she or She-Hulk should have been legit killed off so that the Avengers could, you know, avenge someone in this epic, universe-changing (not really) mega crossover. It's a sad missed opportunity.

Drunk enchantress tempted me to give it 3, but not enough.
