Didn't care for the first three Sleepers, don't care much for this one either so far.

it seems odd how a robot from the forties is better than some of the present robots in marvel

Cap is starting off his own series with better stories than those in Suspense.

Again Marvel, it's not a surprise reveal if it's on the cover of the issue.
Radiation proof sub escape pod? Eh, still less silly than a refrigerator.
Oh no, that gun destroyed my ship! Lucky it's useless against people?
How can the sleeper be a walking volcano? We just learned a few issues ago in X-Men that volcanoes are caused by the wars of underground societies!
Have to admit, I love the argument between Red Skull and Cap on page 17&18. It perfectly answers all of those who question how in this day and age Marvel can get away with the quintessential "nice guy" in their movies and comics.

this character has stagnated. no movement with the love story, one issue retirements, same old villains and robots...

I like this sleeper much more than it's 3 predecessors. Great story, 3 stars.

Fantastic issue. Yeah, the Sleeper is kind of boring, but the artwork really sold the scale of destruction that it causes, and I was laughing a lot at the Red Skull's "crapping in his pants" expressions when he was running to his secret lair.

3 stars for the 4th Sleeper NOT putting me to sleep!!!

Never Forget - I think it would've been interesting to have Cap as a Nazi Hunter in his series!!

Sealed Borders - I do question how Nazis were able to build a base off the Florida Keys during WWII without our military not knowing about it!!!

Sumo - I was hoping Cap would challenge the Red Skull to a fight while wearing Inflato-Suits!!

Minion - Funny scene of the Red Skull chewing out Von Krimm, but he still should've killed him though!!

Golden Oldie - @andyzh: They built things to last back then, and you can tell he's an older model...it still has the knuckle dragger function!!

'Nuff Said - "Men were all born to be slaves! They're not worth your idiotic concern!"-Red Skull

Pretty decent Cap story. The script is 60ish, but the inking of Syd Shores is a great improvement on Kirby's art.

If only Wertham saw the following exchange:
Skull Thug: No matter how good you are -- you can't beat us all off!
Cap: just what I was worrying about! But just between us, big man -- I sure can try!
Skull thug: Sure, sure, try! You just try!
Cap: Another one behind me!

Given that a small island was destroyed just off the Florida keys, I guess we just lost several thousand people due to the resulting tsunami...

Just feel the need to point out, the whole thing could have been avoided if they had just held onto Von Krimm, maybe interrogated him to find out where the Red Skull was, but held onto the key themselves. But no, suicide mission and releasing a walking volcano, much better option.

I'm with Cap and Katryn... Fury really blew this one! He had Von Krimm right in his hands.

Then again, I guess he's got a lot on his mind, what with trying to run SHIELD, conduct covert missions, and set up romantic dates for his agents.

I love how Cap, right in the middle of his mission, is all like "Fury, I wanted to ask you about Agent 13!" And Fury doesn't want to hear it, he's just all "stay focused on the mission, soldier!" Even Agent 13, as the world is collapsing, complains to Fury "you promised us we'd get some time together!" Sheesh!

I also like how Von Krimm really lays it on thick once Fury lets him go, speaking German and clicking his heels together. Ooh, that must make Cap's blood boil!

And how 'bout that fourth Sleeper, eh? My theory is that the Sleeper is a metaphor for Cap's totally pent up sexual frustration for Agent 13. To wit:

"It's happening faster than I expected! I can't control it any longer! The life force is beginning to surge... to expand! That means... he's awakening!"

"The blasts are beginning! That means... he'll soon erupt!"

"Meanwhile, oblivious to all that transpires about him, the massive head of the fourth Sleeper slowly rolls back... as his face begins to glow, like a seething, steaming furnace!"

"Then, a fiery blast shoots upward... a bolt of such intensified, concentrated power that no mere words of ours can begin to describe it!"

Sounds to me like someone needs a little action. Fury better get on that sooner rather than later.

And finally, the Nazi thug pretty much acknowledges it... Cap is so pent up, no matter how good he is, he can't beat them all off.

He just can't.

Cap all pent up? Hey, after sleeping for 20 years, who wouldn't be?

However, the best part had to be page 18.....

"They'll revolutionize the building industry!" "That material is absolutely indestructible!" "Those buildings will stand forever!" BUH-ROOOOMMM!!!

So much for that little pipe dream.

A lot of action in the first two solo issues. Not much for character development so far, but Agent 13 problems aside, Cap does make a bada$$ SHIELD operative.
