The Surfer's behavior in this issue makes me want to say what Spicoli says to Mr. Hand when he rips up his schedule card in Fast Times at Ridgemont High--"You d**k!!"

Hmm, in my opinion, Reed and the others come across as the bigger idiots. Don't think, attack first, ask later. An encounter between the heroes is set. Although it does seem to represent the abounding ego of these three, so good characterization I guess.

Ben, this guy builds flying cars and motorcycles for years now, and you ask him how his new vehicle will go anywhere without wheels?
"And now--since we've achieved necessary shrinkage..." A statement I never thought I'd hear a man make.
Susan's almost due? She appears to be using her invisibility powers on her belly.
You ever get the feeling that Reed would be better off with a couple of trained dogs? At least they would listen.
Why are all androids invincible in the Marvel universe? What are they made of?!
So Reed instead of checking on your soon to give birth wife, or possible check to make sure that Galactus actually leaves, you decide to go after a past villain that poses no current threat to you. And to do what, kill him? And if you wait a few more months you could also bring your fourth team member who may be able to help a bit. Stupid genius.

The shoot first, ask questions later scenarios are getting really tired at this point. Thing and Torch by might as well shout "Leeeeroooooy Jeeeeeenkins!" whenever they engage someone.

The most likeable character in this issue is Galactus. That's just wrong.

That ship has controls for shrinkage and maximum penetration. I wonder what Reed had originally designed it for.

The ending was sort of blech to me.

As disappointed as I was by this issue, I still loved the Silver Surfer's comment, "After eluding you, I returned--to amuse myself at your frustration!" Seriously? I thought a powerful cosmic being was better than that.

Such a tragedy. To have the greatest mind in the world and still be a total doofus. Bit of a let down from last ish but earns a 3 star due to mad/bad science and King Kirby at his best.

3 stars for the Silver Surfer SHRINKING from his responsibilities!!!

House Call - That doctor really needs to work on his people skills!

Innuendo - @gloomyharvester: and don't forget about the chemical stain that was left behind!!

They Came From Innerspace - @MattzLadd: I think it is neat that Reed 1st coined "Micronauts"! I remember my older brother had some of the action figures from the 70's, and would beat me up if he caught me playing with them. Also, Marvel later published the comic book about them.

Splash - Like MrRsBB said, great pinup of the Silver Surfer!

Pinball Wizard - Who knew that the Microverse had a pinball world!? (p15,p3)

Advanced Race - So, Galactus uses an old arcade game to control his machines!!??

'Nuff Said - "It's propelled by the speed of its own shrinkage, Ben--"-Performance Issue Reed

OK this arc is holding my interest over a lot better than similar length ones in most other titles.

That said, why does the Thing constantly match up with things that overpower him? Like why is he never the favorite in a fist fight with ANYONE? I thought he was super strong but all he ever seems to do is get knocked around while cracking wise. Maybe if he could actually knock someone the f out then they wouldn't need these weird last page twists to get rid of the enemy.

Silver surfer remains the best character in Marvel to date.

Not horrible, but not great either.

Really?! You're gonna stay behind to deal with a POTENTIAL threat (Psycho Man) and just trust that everything works out with Galactus and Surfer?

What I learned: when you need to get someone's attention, use a stun ray. It's the friendly kind of ray.

Reed to Hank Pym: "So you can shrink down to the size of an ant, eh? Yeah, that's pretty good, I suppose... I mean, if that's the best you can do."

I love cover on this issue... The artwork on Ben is fantastic.

This issue made me realize how times have changed... 2 billion people on Earth instead of the 7 billion we have now, Sue hiding her baby bump behind a maternity smock... What a difference 50 years makes!

I find it interesting that Reed is totally cool with sacrificing some other planet in order to save Earth. Out of sight, out of mind, I suppose. The guy looks completely unhinged on Pg19/P2. Such an awesome shot.

I was trying to wrap my head around the whole concept of the micro-verse and why its gravity would be heavier than ours, but I concede that my understanding of science is not on par with Stan's.
