Like Gehrig for Pipp, or Brady for Bledsoe, Sue should lose her job to the obviously more effective Crystal.

I so totally agree with bigkat5582. Crystal's powers and confidence are clearly superior to that of the Invisible Girl. Marvel should dump Sue Storm and replace her with Crystal!

What's this? A competent female character? Not only that, but an issue entirely dedicated to proving her competence? That has to be worth at least an extra star for this era.

Imagine the 60s Wizard having to go back to the Villains' Club meeting and explain he got beat by (as the writers always condescendingly put it) 'a female'.

This was a fun little issue. Wizard makes for a good warm-up threat for Crystal to face. The rest is all nice artwork and characterization.

When Sue rejoins the team, it would be fun to see the two ladies with Reed and Johnny. I'm not looking ahead to see if that's what happens, but it sounds plausible with Ben's temper.

Finally! We see Crys in action! I've been waiting for this for I don't even know how many issues now.

@jfpj1991 It's funny that even the Thing says "How many times are we gonna haveta lick that creep"

That last panel felt like they were all thinking "You've already accomplished more than our last girl, I think you will do just fine."

Loved this issue, and I can't wait to see how Crystal fights against one of the better villains. I guess this answered my question about what was going to happen now that Sue had her baby.

"By the power vested in me by nobody in particular", love that line. It's quite a contrast compared to the stuffy, serious Avenger rulings.

Crys shows plenty of different powers here, though I believe in the normal meta she only has powers based around the four primary elements.

I would have been more impressed by the treatment of Crystal if they didn't immediately have Reed announce he had the same idea she did about getting out into the middle of the river. That was too similar to how Sue can apparently only use her powers when Reed tells her to.

3 stars for Crystal making it clear that her place is with the Fantastic Four!!!

Seamstress - When Crystal made her costume, I wonder if she used unstable molecules...

Hidden Years - And, like the Trapster, the Wizard somehow survived MSH #15 to menace the FF again!

Splash - Do we really need a full page to show off the Wizard's new Wonder Gloves?? If it was new Wonder Bread, then I would understand...

Gentle Ben - Funny scene of the Thing telling Crystal to ignore the nutty things that he says!

'Nuff Said - "Tell me I can be your wife's replacement--I know you need me--and I know I can do it!"-Crystal to Reed, and right in front of Johnny!!!

Did the writers only just realise that they had one of the Inhumans hanging around not doing anything? Seriously, Sue has been pregnant for about 18 months or something and Crystal is only just getting to help out!

So Crystal spends the whole issue kicking butt with her formidable elemental powers, and at the end Johnny says "if anyone messes with us, she'll whump 'em with a powder puff!" Nice.

I loved the opening splash page seeing Crystal in her FF costume though. An exciting development, right off the bat, with no goofy panels beating around the bush. I like how she gave the collar design her own unique touch.

Great full-page shot of the Fantasti-Car on page 11!

I would have liked to have seen some recognition from the Wizard that he was being defeated by Medusa's sister, after Medusa herself so handily defeated the entire Frightful Four (Three) in MSH #15.

And finally, while the Wizard's helmet may have protected his melon from a direct hit by a massive chunk of wooden pier(!), I would expect he might need a neck brace for a day or two... sheesh!

"The important thing is taking orders....keeping yourself under strict control!" Johnny, you're sure one to talk! You've given Reed quite a bit of grief in the past about his leadership! Okay, there's times he had it coming, but still.....

Ol' Wiz sure got pwned by Crystal. Once she negated his anti-gravity discs he was easy pickin's for her and the rest of the Fantastic Four. You'd think that he'd reconsider trying to take out the FF, especially after Crystal telling him who his older sister is, but some guys just need more knocks to the head before it dawns on 'em.

And no appearance from Sue, who's clearly busy being a new mom. Is this the very first issue of Fantastic Four that doesn't have all four founding members?

3 stars. Plenty of action, and Crystal doing what we all thought should've happened a few issues ago; and probably being the first female super-powered hero who handily defeats an opponent. Women of Marvel are starting to step up here; who'd have thought we'd see this so early?

Wizard used to get whipped by Johnny alone. Then he decided to dedicate he could take on the whole FF, with predictable results. Now he gets effectively solo'd by the new kid on the team. Maybe it's time for ol'wingless to hang up the power gloves. Or at least take on a hero more like new his level. Like Daredevil. Or Aunt May...

"BAM!" "Oh, Peter, I've had such a fright. A criminal in a helmet came into the kitchen and I hit him with a frying pan." Collapses into Peter's arms as the cops carry Wizard away.
