  Formulaic, but enjoyable.

Daredevil goes to Vietnam to entertain the troops?! Aawaaah?! What, did Bob Hope recruit him or something? That is one of the silliest things yet in a book that is often silly.

Could have been 4 stars without the goofy stuff in the beginning, and the odd pacing of the story.

"Yes Willie, I'm a world famous lawyer, and I do it all while being blind just like you. Well except for it happened to me when I was a child, so I was able to adjust to life as a blind person while being supported and going to school. And my radar sense that actually fives me 360 vision. And my other senses are enhanced to superhuman levels. But other than that we are exactly the same!"

This was a great story, loved the incorporation of the story to Murdock's trial case. This may have been the best DD issue I've read.

I'll admit it. Daredevil touched me. Really enjoyed this tale. So happy that DD turned into a good comic.

3 stars for the feel good comic of the year!!!

The Devil Is In The Details - @skalchemist: I agree, how did DD get to Vietnam and back without anyone knowing who he was? How did he set it up with the USO? Was he in costume the whole time???

Man's Best Friend - It's like Willie's dog is looking right at us! (p20,p1)

'Nuff Said - "DAREDEVIL!! Did you say Daredevil--is here--to see me?"-Willie Lincoln

The newspaper headline spelled Benson's last name as "Benton."

Wow. I never thought I'd be giving a Daredevil story 5 stars this early in the order. True there were weaknesses in the uneccessary DD in Vietnam intro but it was a story with real heart.

I'd ask where Foggy thought Matt was while he was off entertaining the troops in Vietnam, but Matt seems to do little enough work even when he is in the country, so I'm presuming Foggy is used to it.

  Russ Says:

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with this story. Nice little human interest angle, using the Vietnam War to tell the story of a blinded vet fighting a frame-up. Undoubtedly, one of the best early Daredevil stories up to this point in the Order. It even hints a little at the dirty Hell's Kitchen based future of the series.

Today we view veterans with utmost respect, and even a little bit of awe. It's hard to believe today that back during Vietnam, vets were shunned by both the public and the government at the time. While we did finally honor those that fought and died then, it was a time where donning a military uniform automatically labeled you a killer of women, children and innocents. Publishing a story like this was a big public relations gamble for Marvel at the time. But Marvel was already known for bucking trends and pushing the envelope.

Sure, there's a huge plot hole here; where was Matt Murdock when DD was entertaining the troops overseas? But nevertheless, this one-shot deserves 5 stars. It's maybe a half-step down from the more iconic one-shot stories like Fantastic Four #51 and Spider-Man #50. And actually well-done, too.

Russ brings up a good point about the perception of Vietnam vets when this story was published. My humble attempts at humorous comments pale in comparison. I'll defer to his better judgement!

parts of it for sure...sadly there were also some bad ones, e.g. the Vietnam part.

The Court scene was really nice imo...I want to see more court action with Matt. I think his lawyer-activities need more attention and some love
