So let me get this straight. They send the Hulk to the Savage Land for two (and a bit) issues, AND HE DOESN'T FIGHT A SINGLE DINOSAUR! Why else would you send him there?! To fight a lame rock robot? Seriously?!

  Robot fighting time!

This is the second fight Hulk has gotten into with someone's pet in three issues. Now I understand where the idea for the Hulk dogs in the Ang Lee movie came from...

I'm really glad I wasn't the only person who was bummed about that...

Isn't this the 3rd or 4th time Banner has died?

I laughed really, really hard at Hulk flinging Ka-Zar and Zabu across the river.

Also...seriously Stan, stop with the "Hulkinued" gag. It doesn't work.

How the hell did Banner get back to the machine before Umbu did??

3 stars for Umbu doing the rumba with the Hulk!!!

Zabu - I like the Hulk putting the cat out!

Contender - @rubixcube60: I agree that it was a waste to have Hulk not fight dinosaurs, but Umbu held his own against the Hulk! His ray from his staff hurt the Hulk, and the vapor turned the Hulk back to Banner!!

Order Up - That was nice of the Swamp Men to cook their sacrifice before serving it to their dinosaurs!

'Nuff Said - "Where Umbu now goes...he goes alone!"-Umbu the Unliving

not even my love for the hulk can make these issues good. i'm actually looking forward to an x-men issue

I don't get it, why does a giant alien robot care about human sacrifices?

  Russ Says:

The Hulk fights a dog in Annual #1; now he fights a cat. Everyone, keep your pets indoors during this Hulk arc.

Umbu the Unliving seems to be a throwback to the monster stories of pre-FF Marvel/Atlas. I'm not sure why this alien wants human sacrifices either, since he's running a weather machine that'll wipe out most of the human race anyway.

3 stars. Poor Banner dies for the second time to produce a cliffhanger (Astonish #69).

Maybe it's my inner 12-year-old, but I LOL'd at Umbu's potent vapor attack. I'm guessing all those human sacrifices must not agree with his alien-engineered constitution, 'cos that gas is enough to take out the Hulk!

I also think Ka-Zar's time in England has really done wonders for his vocabulary! Not long ago, he was all "me Ka-Zar!" Now he's using words like "stanchion!" Privilege has its advantages I suppose.

Also, did anyone else think that it looked like Hulk was flipping off Umbu on the bottom of Pg12? Like, the finger was already drawn and the CCA made them do a "Countess Valentina" on it.

Stanchion through me out of the story too. No one who refers to themselves in the third person says stanchion.

  JonahBlack Says:

The nice thing about a Ka-Zar/Hulk combo is that neither of them talk much, and definitely don't think much, so the issue is a quick read, and you can actually see the art, rather than it being covered with word balloons.

It was actually kind of refreshing

this is a harsh and gory thought but maybe the machine and/or Umbu are fueled by human blood...
