I liked this issue. It felt like one big throwback to the Golden Age.

I loved the Torch-Namor battle, but the villains--Egghead, Puppet Master and the Thinker? That's a Hostess Fruit Pie ad, not a threat to world peace.

The whole storyline the last few issues would be way better if they picked better villains...

Liked how this issue paid tribute to the golden age and yet continued the story from Iron Man.

Did not expect the Toro twist. While I enjoyed this story, I can't help but think that this was another instance of Marvel adding the character just to retain the copyright, as they did with the original Human Torch and Captain Marvel.

I hate the Mad Thinker as a villain and I'm not a huge fan of Namor either, but this issue was oddly entertaining. So there are three Human Torches, huh? I guess people liked him that much (or Stan did at least).

3 stars for the 1st modern appearance of TORO, TORO, TORO!!!

Cover Me - A very 90's looking cover. Like maybe the Kubert Brothers or Carlos Pacheco could of drawn it!

Accessary - I really don't think Namor's bracelet would've helped him through those flames...

Sunny Side Up - How in the hell did Egghead get a space station???

Free Bird - I guess Angel was too embarrassed to appear in this issue...

Hidden Years - So, I wonder what else the Mad Thinker had Toro do for the last three years??

'Nuff Said - "Until then...thank you and good afternoon!"-Elegant Egghead

1 star automatically for the awful return of the worthless villains. Ugh.

Every time the Thinker goes on about how he's not mad - methinks he doth protest too much!

I really don't like the Mad Stinker's involvement with the original Human Torch and Toro. It's almost like McDonald's taking over a posh 5-star restaurant.

However, for whatever reasons Marvel had, I always enjoy any appearances by the Android Torch and/or his sidekick. It's kinda cool seeing the updated versions of the other Golden Age characters besides the oft-used Cap and Namor.

It does seem like the Stinker, Master of Muppets, and Egg-on-his-face are being set up as a major MU-wide threat, seeing as they've crossed over from the Avengers to this title, and might even show up in one or two other books.

3 stars. Pretty fun issue, and fun battle between Namor and Toro. Too bad we couldn't get better villains.

You know, I've always liked the Sub-Mariner. There's something about his raw strength, physicality, and haughty manner that I think Marvel just gets right. He's one of the only characters who can literally speak to himself for an entire issue, referring to himself in the third person, and the reader doesn't blink an eye.

I think the raw strength is a big part of the character's appeal. The fact that he can crush a gun to bits with a fist-smash (Pg16/P2) is just one example of his many feats of strength, so when he takes off his metal cuff for a makeshift set of brass knuckles (seriously, how COOL was that?) you just know that's going to be one heck of a hurt. Sort of like a few issues back when that guy on the sub looked through the periscope and saw Namor furiously swimming towards him... red alert!

I also loved that shot on Pg17/P1 where Namor pops the Thinker in the face from over his shoulder, with nary a backward glance!

The only thing about this one that bugs me is that Namor remembers the Torch, but he and Cap haven't really acknowledged that they used to know each other in WWII, despite coming face to face a couple of times already! What's up with that?

Love anything about the original Human Torch and Toro so rather enjoyed the twist.
Will agree with anyone that says this Mad Thinker, Puppet Master and Egghead arc is rather lame, though.

So, Toro finally remembers his real life. Remembers he has a wife. And he decides to kill himself rather than simply disabling to ship and capturing the villain? Man, he must have had a horrible home life.

I was all set to give this a 1 star, but I promoted it to 2 for 3 reasons:
1) The Toro Twist was pretty good
2) Namor shutting Mad Thinker up.
3) This being the last issue on Marvel Unlimited for a while.

The Toro twist upped this one from 2 to 3* for me too.

Sadly I don't really care that much for the Golden Age characters like the most of Y'all seem to do.

And I also don't care for the 3 villains...
Maybe Marvel at the time knew these were the least acknowledged/liked villains they had and with this very big threat, they wanted to make them more dangerous/important.

I loved the cameo page but did not like that all heroes had no clue how to handle the situation
