Issue Review
   November 15, 2016
Enjoyable, interesting, tragic.
Villain. The story is told from the POV of the villain. He gets the most scenes and we are privy to all his revenge-driven scheming. The engine driving the story is clichéd, yes, but telling it this way makes it seem fresh and interesting.
Second villain. There's a second villain and the two bicker. Always a solid choice by a writer.
Action. Good fight at the end. The timing making it all seem tragic.
Cliffhanger. There's a surprise in the final panel.

Ok art; kind of a kids story-classic 70s marvel...in a good way...duh, I wonder why..."Why is it always sooo hard to think?" (3+)

First time the Leader really seemed diabolically evil.

3 stars, just because there was finally collateral damage from the Hulk.

Leader could have killed him on that boat and been done with it. I hate when supposedly genius bad guys are so dumb.

God, I feel so bad for Bruce and Betty... But then again, maybe the Hulk saved Bruce's life. ;-)

You know, these super geniuses are really stupid when it comes to finishing off the hero. I know, I know, it's a comic book, but really, the Leader should have just flat-out murdered Banner on that boat, considering he has an embarrassing losing record against the Hulk. So what does he do? Turn Banner into Hulk again just so he can lose...again.

  Rheavon Says:

Rhino has been in a coma for months, but still says "Hey didn't I hear awhile back on the radio...that the Hulk has Banner's mind now?"

Its little things like this that bug me the most.

I don't like that they went back to normal, but that was aone of the best Hulk stories in the run.

And the reset button was pressed in a classic disastrous wedding. I thought the art was lacking a bit and the issue wasted a lot of time with the Leader trying to figure out the PERFECT revenge plot - very silly but also a bit funny.

3 stars for the Leader and the Rhino both bringing toasters as wedding gifts!!!

Cover Me - I love the look of both Betty & Gen. Ross!!

Credit Due - Sal Buscema helped with the art for this issue, and it definitely shows!!

Numbskull - Some big brain the Leader is, if he thinks Maximus is nothing without his Evil Inhumans...

Half Splash - Nice image of the Rhino in his new duds!!

Not So Super Humanoid - That Humanoid came apart a little too easy. Especially, if it has Plastithene skin!!

Home Sweet Home - The Ross Family Home has a painting of a atomic blast above the fireplace!!

Danger Level - So, the Leader set the gamma gun on destruct to take out the Hulk, but it doesn't even knock out the Rhino!!!

Combustion - Interesting that the Leader uses unstable molecules to power his escape module!!

'Nuff Said - "Yer too used to fightin' panty-waists like the Leader!"-Rampaging Rhino

The Trimpe/Buscema combo produced some of the best art on Hulk yet.

Good thing Bruce was getting married wearing his purple Hulk stretch pants. Maybe he's just really attached to them by now.

  Russ Says:

This may not have changed anything, but it was still a really good story arc. I saw the marriage ceremony fail a mile away though, even if it didn't go quite the way the Leader planned it. You know, the Hulk being so decisively cured would've been like the castaways being rescued from Gilligan's Island.

But kudos to Roy Thomas for doing a story like this. I imagine it must've been quite daring for its time. 3 stars

Pg. 11 - How did the Rhino get that big? He was human-sized the page before.

Of course Bruce is back to being the Hulk, and they couldn't even complete the ceremony. That could have also been an interesting story arc: complete the ceremony and have the Hulk remember that he and Betty are married. That would hurt General Ross and Talbot even more Betty's unhappiness at losing Bruce again.

Oh for the love of Stan Lee, Talbot! Have you been paying any attention?

I think this is the first arc of Hulk that I really liked. I wish the ramifications were more...significant...rather than Ross and Talbot just going back to chasing the hulk, but it was a tight story, with the kind of pathos traditional to Hulk.

Disappointed that Banner's brain isn't the Hulk's now. Really enjoyed a "smart" Hulk
