Issue Review

RikerDonegal
   September 26, 2014
It’s an enjoyable read, but it is enormously flawed. The massive threat revealed last issue is easily dispatched. Very easily dispatched.

Next there are some major revelations… Firstly, two characters are revealed as being behind everything since issue one. Unlikely. And annoying. Makes the hero of the book look like a dupe. But there’s more… The huge revamp in the series a couple of issues back is completely undone. And not very well either. The new explanation for recent events makes very little sense, and creates a new problem (concerning the heroes new powers) which is addressed briefly then dismissed. But not dealt with.

Seems like things haven’t been thought through… 4/10

The unveiling of the Captain Marvel outfit we all know and love! Still looks kinda weird with grey hair, though.

  Holy exposition Batman!

That's a lot of text balloons!

Great finish to the 1st phase of Captain Marvel. Now let's take care of Yon-Rogg, the final loose end.

I commented that the last issue was trippy. Now I find that was not just a metaphor.

I f-ing loved this issue. Captain Marvel remains the most schizophrenic title in the order...going from garbage to great at random.

An in a lot of ways impressive and surprising ending to the past issues' plot but I still found it underwhelming and extremely exposition-heavy which means a lot, too much, text. But still a very significant issue for Captain Marvel.

Is this Ronan's first appearance with blue skin? Also, the opening on the top of his hammer looks strangely vaginal.

3 stars for Cap Marvel finally getting his classic cosmic costume! Although, like others have said, it is wordy and rushed. It still works though, and setups the new status quo!!

Jeffery Tam-Bor - The Tam-Bor Idol has changed appearance since last issue. Also, the Cult's non-metallic clothing looks like a lot like metal...

Spin-Off - I wish we would've seen more of Colt & Kinsolving, FBI...

Great Pama - What's better than a Sentry...a Super Sentry!!!

Zoom - Teleportation must mean something else to the Kree...(p12,p4)

Cross Species - I always thought it was odd that the Supreme Intelligence is green like the Skrulls!

Blueberry - @melvillean: convenient that he finally got the blues!!

No Prize - The speech bubbles are mixed up! (p16,p1,3)

Hammertime - If the Hall of Judgment can neutralize advanced weapons, then how could Ronan use his Universal Weapon??

Hyper-Space Bolt - So, the Kree, like the Skrulls, have a planet killing weapon that they don't ever use...

'Nuff Said - "Now--and for all your life--you shall be--Captain Mar-Vell!"-Supreme Intelligence

The Supreme Intelligence can choose to appear however it likes, and that's what it goes with?

Super Sentry! Strange Sentry from another planet, rocketed to the Kree homeworld. Possessing powers different from other Sentries, he adopted the name Klar-Ken and now works as a reporter for the Daily Pama. What's next? Bat-Sentry?

So are Yon-Rogg and Carol going out on a date? Just what are your intentions with the young lady, Colonel?

New look; new costume; new direction. They needed to breathe new life into the series after being on a treadmill the past several months.

Holy shnikes that is a convoluted plot. What if any one of those steps had failed? Did you have a plan B?

I'll give this a somewhat reluctant 2 stars, for the debut of the classic costume, and the resolution to a major plot point.

Otherwise, it was a garbled mess.

I had just Googled why some Kree and blue and some are white, then the next issue I read explains it. Typical
