So, they are condemning that whole alien race to death? Sub-Mariner, how brutal... I know they were the baddies, but they were not beyond redemption.

"Ant that's... the Sub-mareener" I guess even in-universe nobody pronounces it correctly.

So Namor's stuck up here with us surface dwellers-poetic justice.

I actually love that Namor's decision is completely in character when compared to many of the hard decisions he will have to make over the years to come, including stuff going on even now in modern Marvel......

I see no issue with Namor's choice. First off he was just trying to break the machine, not reverse the flow. And secondly, it was the alien that intentionally committed genocide...it was just accidentally his own people.

Also this is one of the first times Namor hasn't come across as a complete jerk to me. He never believed that Triton intentionally betrayed him, and he fought to save the world.

A great story marred by bad writing.

That was mighty nice of the cover to spoil the ending for everyone.

Alien: "Our home world is destroyed! Oh the humanity!"
Namor: "It was I, that destroyed your home world!"
Alien: "It's cool. You are free to go."

I would say the loss of Namor's gills is far less than the punishment deserved for destroying an entire civilisation. However, he said himself that if there were another way then he would have taken it, and it was the right thing to do to save the Earth.

Just 2 stars for the Terrific Triton Titillating the Title to Total Tawdriness!!

Cover Me - I like where Marie Severin signed her name on the cover!!

Bright - Interesting that underwater races leading scientists wear sunglass goggle thingies...

Figure Eight - Interesting that Dynorr's home world circles two suns! Also, I like the layouts showing their history, while Namor & Triton beat them up!!

Speedo Torpedoes - Hey, you two, get a room!! (p11,p3)

Grumpy Old Men - I wished Dorma would of let Vashti smack Kormok around!!

Convenient - Luckily, Dynorr decided not to let Namor just float off into space...

'Nuff Said - "Perhaps--if I thrust the invincible trident--between its gleaming sections--"-Namor the Swordfish

Explaining the plot, it sounds good. Alien race stealing Earth's water to save their own dying world, there's something cool in that. Instead, we get this.

Namor did what he had to do; it was either us or them, and he chose us. What hero wouldn't in this case?

But wow, the consequence being Namor no longer has his gills. He's an air-breather; the creature he despises the most! He won't be able to live this down, I'm sure!

Good to see Namor and Triton teaming up again. For sure I thought Namor was going to open up a can on Triton for betraying him, but it looks like Namor is getting smarter and looking at the bigger picture; a few years ago, Namor would've tried to beat Triton silly even if Attuma had said he betrayed him. Not anymore.

3 stars. Slightly better than it started, and Namor's inability to return to Atlantis will change the whole dynamic of the book for awhile.

Namor, good job fighting water with water. Too bad the Stalker's planet was destroyed, but truthfully, I don't feel too bad for them. They would have done the same to Earth if they could.
