I seem to remember Stark making improvements to his chest plate. So shouldn't he have been performing better than before in his old armor? Still this is the first Iron Man issue I've really enjoyed in a long time.

Really good story, but lots of weird issues too.
Does Midas really not realize that the story of King Midas is a tragedy about the follies of greed? That would be like a baddie calling himself Mister Macbeth, because he wants all the power.
Why is there smoke coming out of the smokestack if it's not in use?
If the info Stark stored is making the LMD like Stark, why is he a loony killer?
A two ton block is thrown at LMD, who smashes it, but there's at least half of it there...so lets round it down to one ton. He then throws that one ton block at the security guards...who are stunned.
Just lots of weird stuff that kept taking me out of the story, but I still really loved it. I'll admit to being a far of old Goldie coming out of retirement every once in a while.

Really really loved this story and the art. Very exciting and epic. Perfection and definitely among the best Iron Man-stories I have read so far. A classic!

I could read Tony being ousted by an LMD all day - this is great!

3 stars for Tony Stark being the heart of Stark Industries!!!

Cover Me - At least Wasp is on the cover and not Black Panther; who doesn't even appear in this issue! This happened to poor Waspie a couple of issues back in the order!!

Silent Treatment - You'd think that Cap & Fury would have been suspicious of Iron Man...since he doesn't even talk to them!!!

Glutton For Punishment - At least Midas is not used much in this issue. Just a TOOL for Stark to get back into his company with!!

Say Hello To My Little Friend - I'm glad they finally explained Madame Masque's scarred face. Since see was perfectly fine the last time we saw her in IM #8!!

Avenge Me - It looks like the Avengers weren't really trying to save anyone from that vat...

'Nuff Said - "Don't remember it being so hard in...the old days...!"-Tony Stark, Supplement User

Seriously, SHIELD needs to train its people to spot an LMD.

Tony Stark battles a Lousy Man Deceiver to the death in his old Mark 1b armor. (Okay, so the only difference between the original armor and the 1b is a coat of paint; see Tales of Suspense #40). And it's not the first time he's brought his old armor out of mothballs, but it's always a treat to see it in action once again for the occasional story.

The mystery behind Midas, and especially Madame Masque, is deepening and I like where this is going. Sure, we all know who Madame Masque is (I'm not giving out the spoiler here) but we're seeing bits and pieces of her backstory and it's all actually quite cohesive. Those readers who don't know who she is should have enough clues to figure it out. And Midas was clearly created as a philosophical counterpoint to Tony Stark concerning the topic of wealth, so the conflict between these two could get more interesting as the arc picks up steam.

However, the battle with the LMD was downright epic. I'm glad to see that Tony's heart problem has come full circle and he now has to address it directly if he wants to live. It's a story device a long time in coming. Kudos to Archie, George and Johnny for finally taking it on!

5 stars. And with a guest appearance by the Avengers too! This is one of the best Iron Man stories in the Order so far. Too bad we didn't see Happy and Pepper here.

"The impact stunned them." Wait, you mean the impact from that piece of machinery breaking to pieces on their skulls that was so heavy that you were shaking when you picked it up with your Iron Man suit...

And that is the end of Tony Stark, right? He certainly can't come back from that . . .

Excellent issue. I enjoy the straight-forwardness of Tony's golden suit.

I am especially enjoying the Madame Masque character in this story arc. I hope we see more of her in the future.

I agree with many of the commentators that, despite some small issues, this was a good story.

However.

How does Tony wear the shirt on pgs 7 and 8 while having the chest plate on?? and how does Madame mask not notice when he puts his arm around her? It's hard enough to believe that he can hide it under a shirt and suit jacket, but not a skin tight turtle neck.

How does Midas not find out about the chest piece? How does Tony train in a tight shirt with it? These and other questions keep this issue from being a four star story.

However, humanizing Madame Masque should give it an extra star anyway.

Four Stars after all.
