Too often, I am forced to evaluate something in reading all of these comics - not as a story - but simply comparing it to what had come before it in this title. Really, this is a two-star comic. But compared to much of the tripe that Hulk has been selling lately - this falls higher. Into the three-ish range when everything is taken into account?

Not saying that it couldn't be better - only that it's better than it has been.

Interesting to see the changeover in Scarlet Witch not in an Avengers comic - but here. And frankly, if she's lost her powers, is there any REAL reason she should be tagging along - in her costume? To fight the Hulk?

I'm not too keen on Trimpe's art in these Hulk comics.

Isn't Betty a bit old for take your daughter to work day, every day? No seriously though, why is she always on the bases?

  Phantasmagoria Says:

@Gram91 Shame on you. Betty will always be T-Bolt's little girl, and any "facts" that you come up with to counter this only shows just how little regard you have for the courageous men and women of the hulkbusters. You can talk like that when you're out there being harassed by several hundred pounds of pure rage.

More importantly why does General Ross feel it necessary to ensure that Betty not only hears the plan, but pays good attention to it? She has absolutely no role in this operation whatsoever.

Trimpe gets to draw Avengers! Wellllll... it ain't that special. I love Trimpe, but he is unable to draw Vision. The art here is stiff like Silver Surfer #15. My memory might be fading, but I don't think I have ever seen this many dialogue balloons before!...making me want to go back to bed. What the cornucopia of balloons are relaying is not turning into a very good story, neither...and then it actually ends reasonably well, hmmm...(3-)

I would have liked to see a Hulk triggers the San Andreas Fault story just to see how they would handle it.

  TheAmazingGatorMan Says:
  2014-11-08 22:17:39
Well... At least the plot wasn't an android, an alien, or amnesia. The San Andreas Fault is original compared to the latter.

Well there was an android involved and Hulk is awfully forgetful. I guess you had a couple mutants instead of aliens though.
Been a while since I've had to add to my list of scientific/natural forces that Marvel doesn't understand, but we've got to add earthquakes to that.

I love how Ross asked for Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America. You could tell he was thinking "where are the real Avengers?" I thought it was dumb how Vision said he was behind the times, I mean, Those three were literally in the latest Avengers comic (according to this reading order).

So was Marvel doing a sexism arc at this time? It seems like every issue someone's talking crap about women.

I gave this issue a bonus star because I laughed mya**off at General Ross bitching about the "real" Avengers not showing up. Way to put 'em in their place, General!

They really should have sent Thor and Iron Man to battle Hulk - he showed them just how powerful he is, and there's no way those five could contest him - maybe Vision and Scarlet Witch, but not the others.

3 stars for the Avengers "B" Team being called up. No, not the Great Lake Avengers, but the 1st true app of the West Coast Avengers!!!

Status Quo - I wished they would of had Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch officially rejoin the Avengers in the actual Avengers title!

Mad Skillz - It's getting old that the Vision has to constantly reminded every one what his powers are...

why was it necessary to plant this seed of doubt about whether wanda's powers were back for one page?

"what if i use two hands?" really, wanda? you didn't even check to see if your powers worked BEFORE you rejoined the avengers and went after the Hulk?

  Katryn Says:

I don't know which is worse, Hank, I mean Clint being a sexist bastard (can't seem to keep those two straight these days) or Wanda going to fight the Hulk without checking that her powers worked! And everyone else apparently being ok with that.

  Russ Says:
  2016-12-31 19:47:35
It's always fun to see guest stars and crossovers. Good call to have the Avengers divert the Hulk from wreaking havoc on the west coast and having Arizona residents suddenly becoming owners of beachfront property. There was no point in trying to explain it to the Hulk; his reaction? "Who's Sam Andreas and why is it always his fault?" Poor greenie; always misunderstanding things as often as he's misunderstood.

@Locust75: The Vision has density powers, which apparently includes his head....

I just want to punch Clint in the face for that remark to Wanda on pg 7 pn 3. Just because Natasha broke up with him in Avengers #76, doesn't give him the license to put down any other women!

Is it me, or does Herb Trimpe make the Scarlet Witch look like a pre-teen? Also, Wanda, Hulk may not usually battle girls, but it's a good idea to check your powers to make sure they're working before going into a fight with him. It's like driving cross-country without checking the oil or transmission fluid!

3 stars. Still pretty fun. And "what if I use two hands?" should've been this issue's 'Nuff Said. Just saying....

The Hulk is making pretty impressive progress for a guy his size traveling underground.

Also, doesn't Betty have some type of life outside of her father's pursuit for Banner? Shouldn't she be studying or working or something? How does she pay her bills? Does she live on base with her Father? If she does, I have some issues with that as a tax-payer. She should no longer be a dependent, so Gen. Ross shouldn't be able to support her, without giving her an official job.

Looking at the map of Hulk's progress, he passed through the New Madrid Fault in the Midwest. No concern for a Hulk-generated major earthquake in the middle of the country I guess.
