Issue Review
   November 15, 2016
The engine driving the story is a villain seeking revenge, often the laziest way to fill the pages of a comic. But in this case, the story full of invention and creativity.
Sadly, all that imagination is devoted (in the first half of the tale) to the villain’s absurd/nonsensical scheme. It’s just plain crazy.
After that (in the second half of the tale) things pick up. We get a battle, and it’s enjoyable watching the Hulk reason his way out of trouble. He even tries to make peace with his enemy.

I must have dulled my senses to much of the Hulk-isms after reading so many of these so many times - but this issue didn't seem as terrible as many of the other Hulk issues. Maybe it's because so little has happened in so many of the comics - or perhaps it has been better than many of the others lately - but this wasn't nearly as painful as many of the other Hulk comics have been in the past - and that's not saying much, granted, but this wasn't atrocious.

Of course, I never would have brought back some worthless villain like the Glob - but it isn't made useless here - even if it does have that over-used horror flick kind of ending. The Leader, on the other hand, is woefully under-used here. He could be so much - but instead uses a laser to revitalize - well - the Glob? Shudder.

Wow, Banner's supposed to be like a genius scientist and one of the things he says in this comic is:

"No.. it must have been a shooting star that I heard."

Right... except sound cannot travel through a vacuum and shooting stars are IN SPACE.

Glob! You magnificent bastard...I read your book.

Isn't The Leader's ship just a rip off of the ships from the 50's War of the Worlds movie?

So DC people, Glob's a Solomon Grudy rip-off, right?

Trimpe art I do really enjoy. Some pages, again, look like modern Hulk. The the coloring is pretty psychedelic. The story is alright, not terrible. The script is not Roy Thomas' worst, still it is full of much out of character lexicon (3)

I sort of figured the Glob was Man-Thing.

Decent issue, but still lacking a lot. These single issue stories arena bad idea and I can't wait until they rescind this decision.

I really like the Glob, even though that name is terrible. Poor Hulk. He just wants a homie to kick it with, and all of his would-be bromances turn to fights.

That classic Hulk moment where he tries to rip out a bit of wall and instead collapses the entire street.

3 stars for the return of the Gorgeous Gushing Glob!!!

HIStory - @podgejeff & AmazingGatorMan: The Glob's backstory is similar to Solomon Grundy. Also, the Glob appeared first before Man-Thing and even before Swamp-Thing!!

Brokeback Mountain - Sam Sterns is worried about Bruce going bareback...

No Prize - The word balloons are mixed up! (p4,p5)

Big Brain - Once again the Leader could've killed Banner easily, but instead goes with the elaborate scheme that never works!! Also, he should win, since he seems to pull out any power he needs...

Guts - It's a good thing that Glob wasn't a robot, or Hulk would had to SMASH him, but good!!!

Letters Page - Today, I learned that there is Pocahontas, Arkansas!

'Nuff Said - "We are too much alike...both ugly...both hated by humans! Hulk would feel like he was hitting...himself!"-Wise Ol' Hulk

Every time the Glob appears, I feel sorry for it. It's not Glob's fault it's not allowed to be friends.

Sorry Kez, a shooting star is another term for a meteor. Meteors are small objects which fall into earth's atmosphere, burning as they build friction in the air. On occasion, they burn with such ferocity that people on the surface can hear them pass by. If they happen to explode, they are more likely to be heard. If anything, Banner should be ridiculed for using the non-scientific term "shooting star" instead of meteor.

The Glob will be back, never fear! I kind of tend to want to think that the Hulk is more a Solomon Grundy ripoff than the Glob is; it's just Glob and Grundy share a very similar origin. It's as if the Glob was actually a dry run for the Man-Thing. However, perhaps one of these days Marvel and DC will do another team-up because I'd love to see a Hulk-Solomon Grundy throwdown!

And we learn a bit more about the Leader, including giving the guy a name. Interesting connection that Roy made there, suggesting that the Leader has a bit of influence on the actions of Sam Stearns, just like Banner seems to have a little subtle influence while he's the Hulk.

3 stars. We'll see the Glob again; it's hard to keep a good muck monster down.

Poor Glob. He just wants some love. Is that too much to ask?

I find it interesting that they had to cut a page in the comic, so they made half pages for two pages. I understand the economics of it, but I wonder if it would have been better for them to just cut the page number rather than try to artificially keep it at 20?

A shooting star is not a star
It's not a star at all
A shooting star's a meteor
That's heading for a fall
A shooting star is not a star
Why does it shine so bright?
The friction as it falls through air
Produces heat and light
A shooting star, or meteor
Whichever name you like
The minute it comes down to Earth
It's called a meteorite

-"What is a Shooting Star?", They Might Be Giants

Okay, how did Hulk not kill a bunch of people this issue? He collapsed an entire section of street full of cars and then threw an exploding tanker truck into the hole after them for good measure. Shenanigans!

  Marksman Says:

Why is Banner hiding in the sewers in ripped pants? Makes him look suspicious to the Army looking for him.
