This may be the most tired of all comic cliches - to bring back a dead soul. Again. And then kill him. Again. Especially a character like Bucky, who was so iconic in Cap's origins.

This time - not sure if it's better or worse - but Bucky comes back as an amnesia patient - who just happens to take on extreme gymnast capabilities - and then is revived, of course, by Baron Strucker, and ex-Nazi. Excuse me. Current Nazi. Who then takes up the tale.

For tired stories, it isn't the worst Captain America story I have ever read. Compared to other Cap stories, it's better. Compared to a decent comic, it's recyclable. Like trash it.

I love this cover. Looks like something straight out of the golden age.

Baron Strucker - the MASTER OF WEAPONS! And what's he coming up with? A crossbow, a flail and a spear. Greetings from medieval past! Now I understand why the Nazis lost the War.

Bucky back from the dead, Nazi supervillain, overcomplex method of execution, amnesia, this issue hit all the bad plot points they could find.

Art is more of the same swooshy Colan, yuk. But the story is actually very good, especially if you know the future to some degree. The surprise criminal wasn't a huge surprise, but a surprise, nonetheless. This story could have played out over a much longer arc...I suppose it does. As always there are silly plot twists and questionable happenings, but that's to be expected. The script was typical CA from the time. (3)

Didn't the Red Skull already attempt a plot similar to this one?

Why doesn't the "master of weapons" just shoot Cap with one of those weapons. Instead he builds a large clock face death device that gives Cap & 'Bucky' time to get him free.
Just when Cap seems to be getting a grip and enjoying life, somebody throws another 'Bucky' at him. I figure another deep depression is coming after the reveal on this pretend sidekick.

Could have been 3 stars without the clock and cheesy weapons.

Cheesy, too short... Yet I enjoyed it. I kept turning the pages hoping Bucky would snap out of it. I hope this is the real Bucky...

Here is a tip if you want to kill him Strucker, don't use rediculously outdated weapons.

All of these Bucky stories are creepy as hell.

Loved the giant clock! Reminds me of the props that Bill Finger used in the Batman stories.

2 stars for the return of Bucky and the Baron!!!

Logistics - So, if the Hood lived in San Fran; why bother with a small college last issue? It was somewhere between the West Coast and the Midwest. Why not cause trouble at nearby Berkeley??

Flesh Wound - So, I guess Baron Strucker got better after falling into an atomic reactor...(ST #158)

'Nuff Said - "I am Bucky Barnes!"-Ducky Darnes...DOH!

Fake Bucky is so gullible saying "I'll go anywhere ... anywhere!" If I had amnesia and some dude was saying to come to his place and he'd tell me who I am, I'd be thinking "well, I must've also been an idiot before I lost my memory."

Finally, we have a worthwhile foe for Cap who isn't the Numb Skull. Speaking of which, won't the Skull be surprised that somebody used him. How dare Strucker!

Never mind the so-called Golden Age elements in the story; it was a fun little yarn. Some of the better stories involving Cap since his resurrection entail screwing with his mind, be it through Bucky, Sharon, or whatever. It puts a level of intrigue in the otherwise all-action series. Granted, this isn't all that great, but it's a step up from the past few issues.

3 stars. Looking forward to the eventual reveal.

It is very convenient that he could find someone who looks exactly like Bucky did and has amnesia. Do they really let amnesiacs wander about the city? Shouldn't there be some sort of social support network between the hospitals and social services?

Yay. Let's all gather around a watch Marvel beat it's favourite dead horse: Bucky Barns...

The best part about this is that the evil Baron was driven to wear a tissue over his head. Evil.
