I thought that the last villain was a train wreck. This time he's fighting Myrmidion? The scourge of random third world country in the Pacific?

This was a train wreck. I could really feel the moving of the comic to a second or third tier stroytelling. It felt like something from 1963. Back in the day of atrocious stories. We are a few years (months) from crossing over into the Bronze Age - so it's easy to see why this one is filled with garbage - but it's so much a toss away issue - that I see no sense of building it in any way.

Shameful.

Finally! I can't believe it, but it seems they have dropped the weak heart whining. I truly hope it is permanent.

Yeah, they dropped the grief for Janice quickly, but they also turned her into his serious love without no building-up whatsoever, so it fits.

This entire book is a mess from beginning to end; a political commentary recycled story. The Art is poor and the colors garish; its nearly impossible to decipher what we are looking at here. The new writer is trying on some silly poetic hat and the script is just so phoney...phooey!(1)

So, let me get his straight. Tony Stark finds some people on the ocean, and they tell him how bad their government is. Based on their say so, and Tony's attraction for one of the rebels, Iron Man INVADES their country and topples their government? Tony's trigger for regime change is only slightly more reasoned and thoughtful than the Bush Administration's.

I was about to say the exact thing, I think his actions technically make him an international criminal in the eyes of the UN.

I can't believe I read a put-down of Vietnam protesters. Yes some people aren't willing to go to a foreign country to kill the people there just because their government tells them to.

I hated this comic so much. Iron Man has been garbage for awhile though, so I shouldn't be surprised.

2 stars for Iron Patriot bringing democracy to yet another savage backwater country...you're welcome....

Cover Me - I'm really liking the look of Iron Man on the cover; also in the rest of issue as well!!

Credit Due - This is Mimi Gold's first issue in the order. She doesn't write much more (this issue could be why), but she does later become a colorist.

Aye Caramba - I can see Tony wanting to help Maria out...of her pants!!!

Arsenal - I do like Iron Man trying out other gadgets than just relying on his repulsors!

Banana Republic - I was hoping this country would have a silly name...maybe like San Costa Diablo Leche!!!

'Nuff Said - "Santo is alive! He was only stunned by the shock!"-Senorita

Seriously, people in the Marvel universe need to get an idea of what constitutes life. If the kid is still breathing, he's not dead. Don't emotionally manipulate a mob to suit your own ends.

And yet another backwater dictator goes down, thanks to the democratic propaganda machine that is Marvel. If only more cutie-pie hot mamas would take up the cause of democracy, not to mention liftin' the skirt to show off a little leg to the first hero that passes by, no fascists would ever stand a chance!

Actually, this one feels like it was recycled from an early to mid 60s story. I know it's tough to come up with quality one-shot stories every month, but sheesh. This plot was beaten to death years ago.

2 stars. Not horrible, but we've already covered this ground several times.

I understand wanting to help an oppressed people, but don't countries have some rights to the preservation of their national boundaries? Would Tony accept some other superhero coming in and overthrowing the U. S. government?
