Issue Review

Plenty of action, as Iron Man faces what appears to be a monster attacking Japan.
It's a fast-paced tale, with different battles and changes of location.
Too much time is devoted to uninteresting guest characters and there’s a silly ‘reveal’ at the end but actually it's a fun read, despite the flaws.

4/10

Really bad story here. I don't think it's helped by following up on Spider-Man in the order either.

Wasn't very good, and didn't stand a chance after that Spidey arc.

What was that, Scooby Doo ? Erf.

This run of rubbish continues. This is classic great cover that has nothing to do with the book inside. Iron Man started out the year with great art. If this is stylized, I do not care for this style. I loved Chic Stone on the JIM run, but this..? Blechh! That said, the art is improved over the last issue. Story is nothing special, even if I did not see the Scooby-Do reveal coming and this script is not as bad as the last one. We got some crazy panels here(2-)

These last few Iron man issues make me wonder how he made it beyond issue 25.

Stan Lee: "I want a comic featuring some Japanese scientists. Does anyone know something about Japanese culture?"
Allyn Brodsky: "I've seen a Godzilla movie once."
Stan Lee: "Good enough!"

Surprise, surprise... Another robot and racist references. Welcome to the 1970s, folks.

Much like everyone else this issue stood out as really bad when reading it after a great Spiderman run, I have a feeling the next few issues will pale in comparison also.

If we're having the story take place in Japan, of course we must have a kaiju!
I look forward to the day when I can read a Marvel comic containing Asian characters that don't make me feel racist by proxy.

Terrible issue. Iron Man is a strong contender for "worst of Marvel" right now.

Just 2 stars. This would of have been so much better if the Monster Master actually controlled real monsters!!!

Cover Me - @MrRsBB: Agree about the misleading cover!

Credit Due - This is Allyn Brodsky's (No relation to Sol Brodsky) first work on Iron Man. I'm going to miss Archie Goodwin...

King Of The World - Iron Man is doing his best Titanic impression!! (p4,p5)

Top Secret - So what is Project Delta? Fujiyama named it for their detection devices. While the Commies named it for their Zoga robot??!!

'Nuff Said - "It is Zoga! Zoga the Demon! ZOGA THE UNTHINKABLE!!"-President of the Zoga Fan Club

The best way to get through this story is by listening to "Godzilla" by Blue Oyster Cult. Oh no, they say he's got to go.....we're all saying that about the so-called Monster Master.

1 star. Like some commenters said, it's unfortunate that this one comes right after the game-changing Spider-Man arc we just read in the Order.

What happened to Don Heck? I became a fan of his during the early 60s, I assumed my previous bad impression of him was due to my age and feeling he was outdated. This is just trash in every sense.

Iron Man vs. Kaiju. What is it with Japan and giant monsters?

This was such a change from the Spider-Man series that I feel like I have whiplash.

Iron Man is unwilling to license the secret of Mr. Stark's invention? Who works for whom?

So, part of me wants to address the super racist caricatures or the ripped off kaiju story. Another part of me wants to tease marvel for moving on from misunderstanding transistors to misunderstanding integrated circuits.

However, the martial artist in me read the jiu-jitsu reference, and can't stop thinking about Iron Man triangle choking a dragon...

A mighty kaiju robot defeated by its own reflected light.

So, shouldn't the mirror be concave as opposed to convex as drawn (pg 20 pn 1) to be able to reflect back the light as opposed to disperse it?
