In the time it took for the doctor to die from a snake bite, the Cobra figure out his powers, crafted a villain costume, created a ton of weapons, and commandeered a plane?

Thor can lift buildings but can't get out of a rope?

This is about the fourth or fifth time that a character has changed to his alter ego to get out of binding. How about a new idea once in a while Stan?

I like the Cobra, but he doesn't seem like an appropriate villain for Thor. Maybe Spider-Man. Or Cap or Daredevil later on.

I know it's pointless to try to use logic on superpowers ... but can cobras really slither up walls and across ceilings? Either Stan was crazy ... or cobras are officially the most badass animal.

So, being blessed to be a God is also a course, as you're not allowed to live your love!

A bite from an radioactive animal? Where have I seen this plot??

Good Asgard tale also.

It appears Stan Lee is finally giving Thor decent enemies to fight, rather than commies or Loki henchman. Though I must say, Thor needs more godly enemies rather than villains like the Cobra.

The Cobra becomes another oft-used villain for Thor in the early years. Better than the Black Knight though, or the Beetle, or a few other recurring villains.

  My Cobra-Sense is tingling!!
...Bitten by a radioactive cobra, he gains the proportionate strength, speed, and agility of a cobra! He IS...really not a match for Thor. I mean, Thor was just taking on the entire Chinese Army (with support from the Soviets) on his last trip to India. And, this time, he fights Cobra? Cobra is certainly a change of pace, from Loki and other Loki-ish villains, but come on...

Thor flies to Asgard to ask Odin about Jane. I love that Odin is just sitting in a chair in the grass. Very kingly, Odin.

Like last issue, Tales of Asgard is a major highlight, and I'm excited to read the next Tale. Asgard is such a total change of pace from all the other Silver Age stories. And, it's fascinating to see it take shape.

I think the addition of Tales of Asgard is making JiM my favorite book in this era, from what I've read.

The Cobra sucked. I just don't like that character at all. However, I liked Tales of Asgard a lot, and it redeems the comic.

While I like The Cobra's design and name, I find him to be lackluster as an antagonist to Thor. I'm really looking forward to getting the point where Thor starts to battle more asgardians and other formidable cosmic-scale foes.

A bit more character development which is nice.

I just feel that Thor fighting anything less than a god like foe is uninteresting...he seems unbeatable.

I think Jane needs to chill out a bit. First she leaves Don blake because he wont speak up, then she leaves this new doctor because she finds him cowardly. I agree that Tales of Asgard is pretty cool.

It's nice to see Jane Foster and Dr. Blake finally having some progress in their relationship, even if it's tedious. The Cobra was a terrible villain and I was not excited that he wasn't stopped and will for sure reappear later. These Thor issues are hard for me to get through at times.

Is this the first issue in the order that picks up directly after the end of the previous issue in the series? Do we have an honest to goodness subplot and resolution? Also Kirby inked by Heck in Tales of Asgard looked awesomely dynamic.

The Heck art on thor was a little weak imo. Cobra was a weak villian. I like the character development. Love the ToA feature. Jack Kirby with Heck inks are killer.

This issue is written much better than most if the previous ones. I'm glad that Stan is sticking to it.

I know the Cobra as a villain who can bend and contort himself into and out of the craziest places, and seeing him "mimic a snake" by slithering along a ceiling was indeed very strange.

Tales of Asgard was actually a bit of a let down for me. With only five pages it's hard to tell a complete story, I understand, but why so few panels per page? Kirby style. I just think that with a tale that has so much potential, it's a shame that it felt so vague. There was a war against the giants. Odin opened the earth with his magic sword. The king of frost giants was still alive. He blew a fierce gust of wind at Odin's golden chariot. Odin trapped him in a column of fire with his magic sword. The end. Join us next week where Odin will do the same thing with the evil fire people from below in only 20 panels.

One star for Don Blake snatching Jane back. One star for Thor showing some emotion and giving us some insight into his true character.
