Cartoon villains and a silly ending, but the story is told within a framework expressing genuine concerns about big industry and environment.
Enjoyable.

Noticing a dearth of actual "super villains" and an increase of protesting mobs in the books around this time. It makes for some pretty pedestrian stories.

Not much of a story but a good view into how things were back then.

Getting a bit tired of the all the Scooby-Do reveals happening at the moment.

The bad art has become a habit in this title. This mag has the first innovative mask we have seen for a long time from Heck. The story and script are very much improved from recent issues. I think they got their point across in an entertaining fashion. The main problem was Scooby-dooby-doo!(2+)

We got a Daphne type in here, but really need Velma to sort it all out.

What a mess. And where is this "Lakani" island supposed to be? It sounds Hawaian or something, but the people all seem like they are from the British Isles.

1 star for the sheer number of typos and horrible grammar. Seriously, Stan? He's going to loose them? Stark is going to to talk to them?!?!

So many stinkers in a row. Aside from a couple exceptions, 1970 was just a crap year for Marvel.

Apparently I liked this one better than the majority, but after seeing a lot of stories where the protesters were always right and "the Man" is corrupt, to have one where things are flipped and the protesters are just scared and ignorant. Plus I knew it was old man Bowers the moment I saw him at the haunted amusement park.

The activists-are-just-dupes-of-a-greedy-villain trope has to be one of the laziest "plot twists" of all time. An unusual 1 star rating for an unusually awful issue.

3 stars mainly for the 1st app of Kevin O'Brien who will always be on guard for Stark Industries!!!

Credit Due - I'm still digging Don Heck's art!!!

Commonwealth - @skalchemist: It's in the Pacific, and it's probably because they were once a British Colony at one point.

Behind The Scenes - Wasn't Kathy supposed to be in the helicopter? Although, later she does pop up at the end...

'Nuff Said - "Stark stinks!!"-Protestor

I think Tony acted cleverly here, even if he did threaten people's lives.

Man, Tony's got to stop putting factories on islands. It seems like that always goes poorly for him.

While a few of these stories set the stage for the industrial crime these Iron Man takes later on, these early '70's stories are just bad. And I agree with some of the commenters; many of these endings make me want to toss Shellhead a Scooby snack!

Kevin O'Brian reminds me of Banshee with a bunch of facial hair! He makes a decent addition to the supporting cast. But will Kathy go with him to New York? Something tells me it wouldn't be a huge loss if she stayed behind on Lakani.

2 stars. And Bowers would've gotten away with it, too; if it weren't for that pesky.....naah, I can't say it.

A number of recent stories feature violence or bombs at peaceful protests. Did something happen around this time?

Corporate greed was a problem in the 1970's, as it was in 1870's, and probably will be in the 2070's.

At this time, they are beginning to see the problem: how do you balance technological innovation with environmental responsibility? I like that they are obliquely addressing these concerns.

I like Kevin O'Brien. I hope he come back. I could see Tony making him the head of this facility, at least.
