Issue Review

Not sure what to make of Iron Man #35. It's a packed, full issue. But... the narration is frustratingly clumsy in a couple of places... I mean, it's not a good sign of you have to read back a page/panel to figure out where the characters are, or in which order to read the speech balloons! A shame, because - honestly - there's a lot here to like: Iron Man, Daredevil, Madame Masque and Nick Fury at the mercy of the Zodiac Group. 5/10

The nice story arc keeps getting deeper. Now we get a cross-over & that is always cool. This isn't the prettiest art, but Esposito is an improvement over Chic Stone's latest fiasco of a run. Don Heck has his style and that is what this book is: Heck style. Abstract machines in the background and silly but somehow cool cross-sections of a scenes. The script was pretty cool and we gots more guest stars than normal. It feels like an Avengers book. I enjoyed this.(3)

Gonna go ahead and nominate Capricorn for worst costume ever. Absolutely abysmal in every way.

I really enjoyed this book...it is nice to see a long arc go into cross-over...how many b-list guest stars can they fit in one book?!(3)

The cover image of Nick Fury's costume almost looks like Wolverine's brown costume.

Iron Man & Daredevil make an unusual team-up. Does Spymaster have a full face mask or is it open on the bottom? IN several spots you can see his mouth & chin.

NOOOOOOO!!! Iron Man was threatening to become too awesome so Gerry Conway jumped in to suck all the fun out of this title. This issue wasn't terrible but the next stretch of this and Daredevil is gonna be rough going...

I just can't take any member of Zodiac seriously. They just appear to be bumbling C-listers.

I liked the issue. Yeah, the Zodiac isn't a very well defined or presented group, but they've proven to be a very dangerous group, so I'm hoping their personality (and costumes) will improve. For the second issue in a row Iron Man gets beaten pretty decisively, which is actually refreshing to see once in a while.
The whole disembodied voice and the key are nice little mysteries which will hopefully be explained over time. I was actually hoping that the key was going to attack itself to Kevin, because he was pretty pointless in this issue.
And it was also a nice surprise that DD and Masque run into each other, and it's just an uncomfortable "Hi, who are you" instead of fighting over a misunderstanding like every other character does when they meet.

What a crappy issue. I started losing interest in this arc last issue, and with this one it's gone. I can't believe this story is going to be stinking up the next issue of Daredevil as well.

It might be that I'm overtired, but I found this issue and the last really hard to follow. Too much bouncing between characters in the middle of action sequences.

3 stars for the Zodiac following their horoscope!!!

Cover Me - Pisces is on the cover, but not in the issue!!!

Splash - Someone changed Sitwell's jacket since last issue!!

She's Got Legs - Mamma Mia! Madame Masque has some nice gams!!!

Incognito - No. 4 Godfried Herter dyed his hair and moustache red since last issue!!!

Lackey - It's embarrassing for the Spymaster to be cowering to a horny green guy in a skirt...

Functional - I like the SHIELD dames new uniforms!!!

Editor's Note - I think Stan meant SHIELD found the Zodiac Key after the events in Avengers #82!!

'Nuff Said - "Just give me a chance for a breather--an' then Fury'll get back on top--"-Naughty Nick

I love how easily DD was captured. Because really, if they can beat Iron Man without breaking a sweat, Daredevil really shouldn't prove any sort of a challenge. How Nick Fury is still standing, though....

This arc is a long way from being a classic, but it's also a long way from horrible. I also wonder about the Zodiac, since they've never been a defined group. Plus, we know one member is already dead (Taurus, AKA Cornelius Van Lunt). Plus, is Capricorn an alien?

Liked the appearance of Daredevil and his chance meeting with Madame Masque. You wonder why, as many heroes as there are in New York even this early in the modern Marvel story, that they don't cross paths more often. Maybe they avoid each other in order to not get into a scrap with each other all the time.

3 stars. I want one of Jasper's unstable molecules jackets. You know, the one that changes color when its wearer loses consciousness.

Is Masque really coming out of her shell? I hope so. I like those two crazy kids. Sitwell has to live to betray SHIELD as a HYDRA agent. Or is that a different universe?

All in all, a fun read. Iron Man, Daredevil, Fury, and Masque. That is a fun team-up.

I like the *idea* of the Zodiac, but I think their execution needs work. I don't know if it's the lackluster costumes, or just that they don't have any personality.

You could have just as easily dropped, say, Strucker and some Hydra soldiers and told the same story.

  Marksman Says:

The Zodiac members just seem like a bunch of henchmen in costumes they pieced together. No real powers to them that I can figure from this issue.

Nick Fury seems to be losing his grey temples. Is he using Grecian Formula?
