An enjoyable change-of-location story. Heavy on lead character angst, but also heavy on action/violence. The Gene Colan/Syd Shores art is another reason to enjoy the issue. 6/10

Wow, I love that he just straight up KOs Foggy to get changed into DD. That's pretty harsh.

El Condor?? Those crazy revolutionaries of Deldavia. I would say that DD story threads have been wearing really thin.

You know it's not going to be a good issue when there is no villain listed.

"A shocker... ripped from today's screaming headlines!!" Something like that on the cover is never a good sign, especially in this period.

Talk, talk, TALK! Great Scott, Gerry Conway, just shut up for two seconds! Show, don't tell, for crying out loud!

  Too much unnecessary dialog!

Lots of Daredevil just swinging around talking to himself. Not much action.

What kind of hero lies to the love of his life and knocks out his best friend? I missed my calling. I could have made a fortune as a super hero shrink.

Man did this story drag. And all that dialog!

Did I miss something, or did Karen make the decision to break up off panel? You'd think they'd want to deal with that.
I'm pretty sure that South America is twice as large in the Marvel universe as it is in ours, because they've easily doubled the amount of countries with all the ones they made up. And they're always so corrupt!

Why does Domingo say he wants to see El Condor smile if the guy always wears a mask? And what could "Like russet flames tearing out the soul of daylight" on the splash page possibly mean? Conway needs a better editor.

Since when are DAs involved in foreign policy?

We all complained about no continued stories. They are now painfully back. Clearly we have entered into Ant-Man level of awfulness.

1 star for the flight of El Condor!!

Credit Due - My head hurt from all the words...so, I just looked at the pretty backgrounds!

By page 5 I was hoping this would be a done in one story. Oh well, at least Gene Colan draws pretty pictures.

Pretty sure you can't call someone your almost fiancee when she never at any stage actually said yes. Or when you've spent most of the time that you've known her constantly lying to her.

  Russ Says:

Well, we complained about all the one-off stories per Marvel's editorial edict over the year 1970. Now that the rules on story arcs are loosening again, we have a story that's better (I use the word loosely) as a one-off is being stretched out into an arc. Be careful what you wish for, Russ.....

This one was indeed brutal. More soliloquies and sermonizing than Hamlet. I'm not liking Gerry Conway's work so far.

1 star, though I'm holding out hope that this arc can be rescued.

I'm beginning to dread the appearance of Daredevil in the order. There is nothing original about these stories now. Pitch: Daredevil in California; Daredevil in South America.

What did Stan decide there were too many heroes in New York?
