Issue Review

RikerDonegal

#76 still finds Daredevil caught up in a revolution south of the border. Itís a change-of-location that is partly successful. Sometimes it feels fresh and exciting to see DD in such a setting, sometimes it feels jarring. And the angst! Oh my god, the angst! Daredevil spends an entire fight sequence thinking non-stop about Karen Page! And a lot of the rest of the issue thinking similar deep thoughts. Itís a tiny bit OTT :) 6/10

This was not necessarily a bad issue, but I'm very burned out on "Viva la revelucion!" stories right now.

Somehow, this one was very hard to follow, and I'm not a stupid reader.

I loved how durign all the fighting Matt could only worry about Karen like love sick puppy

Boring and DD: Stop whining please!!!

A really long, unnecessarily detailed recap started this one badly, but at least there are some new variations on DD's old soul-searching tune. The ending was downright painful, though.

Conway really needs to find at least one more plot resolution. This is the second story tonight that ended more-or-less this way.

  skalchemist Says:

That was just awful. Daredevil's inner monologue is just out of hand

Foggy and Matt come to town and so does DD, yet nobody makes the connection. Karen Page returns next issue, more self-pity to follow.

  Garfieldicus Says:
  2014-03-08 16:10:14
Well, that story seemed almost completely pointless. Could have maybe used a little more backstory instead of the extra-long recap, but even that probably wouldn't have been enough to help it.

What in the crappy crap did I just read?

  specialque Says:

Terrible writing. I can't believe Conway found two different ways to misspell "andale" in two different issues.

  duncanm Says:

I think they only had this revolution story so that DD would have things to punch in the background while his inner monologue whines about missing Karen.

1 star for the crash of El Condor!!

It's funny how Foggy didn't spare a second thought as to the safety of Matt when he woke up - and in fact didn't question why he was attacked at all. Terrible issue.

If your plan for getting some alone time from your friend involves risking giving him a concussion, you really need to come up with better plans.

  ClownShoes Says:
  2016-10-09 21:12:50
Well, this was my breaking point. I couldn't bring myself to read this clearly pointless story.

  HeffElf Says:

Matt Murdock is clearly a psychopath. Karate chop your friend and leave him unconcious in an alley in a third world country? What the hell?

  Katryn Says:

I'm actually really glad they didn't unmask the villain before killing him off, because frankly, I just don't care who he is.

  Russ Says:

Brutal, just brutal. I did little more than just skim through this issue, otherwise the two issues would've ended up being Three Days of the Condor.

1 star, and a forewarning to those who think they've already been through the worst of this book....

  benmason486 Says:

Really, a 10-page fight during which Daredevil is only thinking about Karen and how stupid he is for letting her go? It makes me want the bad guys to win. Just put this magazine out of it's misery.

I was at a lecture yesterday about philosophy. One of the presenters said this: "Philosophy is like a blind man, in a dark room, looking for a black hat that isn't there." I just like the imagery of that and wanted to share.

Bad writing and no twist at the end? (Okay, at least there wasn't some silly Scooby Doo moment, but still.)

One star.
