I'm of the opinion that adding new movies to a series doesn't detract from the quality of the originals (See: Terminator, Indiana Jones, Star Wars). It always makes me laugh to see the massive backlash from fans when a movie gets made they don't approve of. It's like, man, don't watch it then?
You ever see the episode of South Park where Lucas and Spielberg are raping Indiana Jones and everyone gets all freaked out? The funny thing is, a lot of people are like "Yeah, they did rape Indiana Jones! I mean, aliens!?" and they fail to see that South Park is actually parodying the massive overreaction of angry fans.

They’ll make another one, I think that’s almost guaranteed with the way it prints money, but I worry about it either descending into unintentional slapstick again, or ending up in the hands of a director who thinks “dark and gritty” is the beginning and end of what made Nolan’s films what they were. I'm with you in worrying about the series. I hope that they stay away from rebooting the series like Nolan did knowing that its unlikely to stay as dark.

I know I'm in a minority, but I thought the film was incredibly tedious. It did absolutely nothing for me. The plot was all over the place and largely inconsequential, there was too much going on at a given time. I really at no point felt in any way invested in the movie or the characters. I absolutely agree. I think people got all wrapped up in Ledger's death and over-rated the hell out of it. It's too long, and God is it preachy. I really like Batman Begins, but I did not care for TDK at all. I will see TDK2, cuz hey that's what you do in the summer time, but it looks like more of the same to me.

I'm very excited. I watched three different trailers for it this morning, haha. I'm not sure I approve of what's her face as Catwoman. I think they could have cast someone with more "va-voom".
