I found the original Spiderman "trilogy" quite boring honestly, I grew up with a wisecracking, smart mouth Spiderman not the almost emo portrayal that Toby what's his name gave him. This movie was a step in a better direction, let's hope it keeps moving forward not backwards.

I just got around to watching this movie, and maybe it was because my expectations were low, but it was a pretty good movie. I liked it more than the original. I'm still not sure I would want Disney crossing the MCU with other film companies, mainly because I'm worried about the other studios screwing up later down the line and Disney not having the ability to stop them.

I haven't seen the new movie yet for this very reason. That being said, I will probably cave in eventually and, in all likelihood, I will enjoy it. It's not so much that I have a problem with reboot, but I wish they would wait longer in between franchises.

Though who remembers the Silver Sable (and once again, man parker gets a lot of tail)

I'd be okay without Black Cat. She's cool in the comics, but there is concern about her similarities to Cat Woman. If you wanted a less well known female character along those lines could be Silver Sable maybe.

Although its hard not to go back to Mary Jane, seeing how big of an impact she had on the character.

True, but I'm not sure if they will be confident enough to kill her off. I hope they do (as long as it's done well) but I have my doubts.

Also, if they do kill her off they will need to introduce a new love interest. Do you think they will go back to Mary Jane or that they will go to someone else? To be honest, I hope its someone else, that could be more interesting. Black Cat perhaps?

I'd bet quite a lot that they will if the series lasts long enough. Why else would they choose Gwen? Sure comic fans know her well, but it's been Mary Jane in virtually all the Spider-Man media for decades. You might make the argument that they simply wanted someone different, but I don't buy that. You don't pick am optional character that is so strongly associated with a single event only not to use that event.

Well, with Gwen Stacey in the film you can only assume that they are leaving the possibility open for a "The Death of Gwen Stacy" plot. Not to say that they will be doing that, but I think they want to have that option in the future if they so want to.

Just saw this one yesterday/today. I've got mixed feelings about it... Spidey is careless with his identity, needs to be a hip young guy with a skateboard, and his jokes are a little forced now and then. But Andrew Garfield makes for a better Spider-Man than the last one, that's for sure, and there was certainly an attention to detail with nice comic references here and there - like the wrestling ring he fell in.

So much hints towards Norman Osborn makes me think the Green Goblin will definitely be a future villain.
