The info I've seen suggests that Pym isn't the main character anyway but rather is a mentor to Scott Lang. There was a suggestion that there would be flashbacks to young Pym from the 60s but that the bulk of the film would be Lang taking up the mantle from the elder Pym. That's an interesting dynamic and one that I'm interested in seeing explored.
That sounds really interesting.

When does Pym get personality? ...no seriously when, I'm at the tail end of the 60's and he's gotten less and less likable and interesting. Far as I can tell his major moments in comic history extend to creating Ultron and smacking Jan.
Also his multiple mental breakdowns over the years.

I was under the impression that his personality gets slowly built up over the years. I've seen some panels from modern comics where I've found his personality quite interesting.

Re: Ant-Man Movie
Well, I disagree due to the reasons I listed in my post above, which, by the way, are meant to apply to all incarnations of Ant-Man, with the exception of the bit about Ultron.
Insects are cool, and I think that the ability to command them while riding on one is awesome. I can't say a huge amount for Henry Pym as a character(yet), as I haven't yet reached the stories where he's given more of a personality, but I have a hunch that I'll appreciate him just fine.

Ant-Man continues to be uninteresting to this day. He's had some bright spots here and there, but the best thing he ever did was smack Jan around. (In BOTH universes, actually)

They are pretty down on him in the pages previous to this one. I wasn't really referring to you.

The film looks cool. People are down on Ant-Man, because that run is so very bad. More so when he becomes Giant-Man, but still, tales to astonish is a bad book for a long time.
