rocketraccoon, what you described sounds very similar to the TV series Falling Skies. Have you watched that? The story lines are about the same. Aliens trying to take over, humans fighting them and then most likely will co-habitate in the future.

Well, way way WAY better then Da Vinci Code. Its not true mystery, its more like action/mystery. Its well written though, and exciting.

thanks. Mystery like Agatha Cristie or mystery like the Da Vinci Code? The political intrigue levels in the last two books are why I haven't read them yet but I still want to know what's next for safehold so I'm going to try again.

Its a mystery/adventure series about an ex-military mp who gets involved in all sorts of trouble. Another one of the books where the good guy has trouble, things look bad, then he kicks everyone's ass. Written by a guy named Lee Child. I think there are like 15 books in the series now, but they are short and fast reads.

Also, new safehold book is out in Sept.

The last 2 that you have, be warned, a LOT more political intrigue less action.

thread resurrection! I too enjoy the safehold series. Hoping to read the last 2 books while on vacation. For those that don't know the safehold series is about an earth wiped out by aliens and humanity's subsequent resettling on safehold. To survive humanity must repress all technology lest their emissions attract the aliens that wiped them out on the last planet so a world spanning church is established to repress technology and technological development by explaining science as religion. (e.g cleaning wounds sanctifies them does not rid them of bacteria) Nimue Alban is brought back to life in the body of an android a thousand years after resettlement to set humanity back on the course to technology. The series contains political intrigue, naval battles, romance, and sword fighting.

tstarnes what is the Jack Reacher series?

If anyone likes Low Tech Sci-Fi, the latest Safehold book from David Weber just came out, and I am totally geeked about it. This is currently my second favorite series behind the Jack Reacher series.
