Track three was nominated for a Grammy as well.

By U2 I mean the spacey guitar licks. Not the vocals or harmonies or anything. Just the guitars and the feel. Reminds me of The Edge a bit.

Here's my problem with Bon Iver. Someone I know who I have lost a lot of respect for lately loves Bon Iver, and I can't help but think of this person when I listen to him. I'm trying to ignore that, because I'm all about not letting outside things affect my taste in music.

That said. Today I listened to it with the mindset of discovering it for the first time. It's quite good. I'll just have to listen to it enough to relate it to something else. I still think For Emma, Forever Ago is his best.

Nominated for a Grammy for "Best Alternative Album"

Also, "Best New Artist" as if that's something you want to win...

To say nothing of preference, I think the new album is better. There's more going on, though I'm not sure where the U2 sound is...

The first three songs are near-perfect. I feel like, overall, it's improved in comparison to the first album in almost every way.

No no no... it's "indie" :P

I am not as in to the new album as much as the last one. It's definitely unique. It's like he added a bit of U2 style to a few of the songs, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think it's funny that he has an 90s electric piano ballad included as well.

I'm not a huge Bon Iver fan, but like I said, I prefer his older one over this one.

It's close to folk rock, but it doesn't really have "jangle", if that makes any sense?
At it's best it's what I think it sounds like to be alone on a frozen lake in the middle of WI and finding yourself completed content.

I have no idea who that is. What kind of music is it?

I've finally given his new album a few listens and it is fantastic!
I kept putting off listening to it despite liking his first album well enough to purchase it.
I'm glad I finally got around to it because it is a really pleasing album.

It's not as big a departure from the debut as some reviews would have you believe but there is deffinately more going on here.

It's closer to the sound of their live show, though it still retains the subdued nature they tend to exhibit in recordings. When I saw them live they, surprisingly, had a little more punch.
